My airconditioner is leaking water from the front just below the control panel. A huge puddle forms every 30 minutes or so. Could this be an installation problem?
Also worth mentioning.... I have a Hampton Bay 6000 BTU window unit also, and also had the water problems... once ruining some sheetrock which had to be replaced. Not only do you have to respect the law of gravity and make the drain hole the lowest point... but be careful to take the unit out of the window once a year at the beginning of the season and clean it completely if you can. The water on the inside of the case can grow mold or algae which along with other contaminants may clog up the drain holes between the drip pan under the evaporator coil (front) and the back of the case. Some water on the inside is normal, and it is designed so that this water is evaporated or slung up on the condenser coil (back) and the evaporation increases the efficiency of the unit to cool on the inside. The problem is that eventually without servicing, it all turns to a grey or green mud. Be careful not to use a water hose on anything like the electrical control boards. That would be a recipe for disaster as the pcb material absorbs water and would cause a short or a fire when you turn the electricity back on.

I just installed a Hampton Bay window unit (heat and cool) that I bought used (it is supposed to be only 2 years old). The fan runs but the compressor does not, also unit will not heat. I have checked power and power is good. Does this unit have any sort of internal circuit breaker or plug that could be loose? Is this unit generally reapairable, worth repairing?
