Problem for Dell 1600n All-In-One Laser Printer
Dell 1600N Displays Scanner Locked
I have switched the scanner lock to unlock, but it seems to be broken. The display continues to display "scanner locked". If a service manual is available maybe there is a repair or a "bypass" that can be performed.

If the lock mechanism is broken as you say it might be, then it will have to be disassembled to be removed. Unplug it, there is high voltage present to run the scan lamp. Be very careful and deliberate while disassembling, you will have to put it back together, or get someone experienced to do it.

- Finding screws under cover and doors or near the bottom are easy, the tough part is popping apart the pieces that interlock with each other. If the latch your looking for is on the back side, then just try to get the back panel off. Even if you can only get it open enough to insert a screwdriver and "break" the latch back out of the way, you will have succeeded. The latch was only needed for shipping.Yes
