Just to let you know, with the cost of changing a tank in any unit of a water heater you would be better off replacing the whole unit, then instaling a new unit, then maybe taking the old one apart in your spare time if you just want to see how it's done, most of the time if the tank is leaking or needs repacing for any reason it is time to change it out,, good luck

Need to replace G6A-6E Atwood waterheater, what replacement model can I use?

Why not the same model/size? Atwood 6 gal, works on propane with electronic ignition. Or, you can get the 6 gallon with electronic ignition, and electric element as well provided you are willing to run hydro to water heater as well, if not already there. Check any RV parts site for prices and availability. Some places are out of stock currently. I assume your current tank is leaking?

Mt 6 gal. atwood hot water heater ignites but will not stop I put a new relief valve on it because it was leaking.

Excessive temperature from running too long will cause relief valve to open. If water temperature is too hot, thermostat & ECO should be changed. They are in behind that little foam cover where the letters are marked on cover. Check that they are up against tank good when you remove foam cover, as that may be the cause as well. They need to be held against tank, by the little coil spring and retainer. If they are against tank good, then replace them.

Have a 2005 coach w/Atwood DSI-RV 6 gal water heater. Gas lights, heater fires and gets hot, but doesn't transfer the hot water through the lines to the sink faucets. jwmystery@aol.com

You need to check by-pass valve(s) on back of tank for proper position. You need cold open going in to bottom tank fitting, and hot open at top. If any valves in between those 2 lines via "T"'s, turn them to off position.

Atwood 10 gallon H2O heater- replaced thermal couple and electrode spark and sensor but heater comes on with switch, heats water for 10 to 15 mins then burner goes out. Can hear a couple of switching...

I'd check that ECO and thermostat discs are making contact properly with tank.Just peel back foam cover on outside of tank that has ECO and THERM marked on it. If they are installed correctly, replace them.

Is the atwood g6a7 hot water tank interchangeable with the atwood g6a3 tank

If your replacing complete tank and front face, yes. If just replacing aluminum tank itself, take a look at front face and see if it has all the same holes for pressure relief valve, etc. Either 6 gallon tank will fit, it's usually the features that are different, such as electronic ignition, or one has gas and hydro operation, where other is gas only. Obviously the electronic ignition requires a 12 volt DC source for it to work, where just manual light does not, as well as 120 volt operation requires a hydro hook-up if you want to use that option of it.

Where can I get a 6 gallon atwood tank?

Depending on how big the split is, we have in the past taken it to a welder who can weld aluminum, and had them repaired, but price for repair got as high as replacing, so we stopped that. If he's good and pressure tests it after at a reasonable price, maybe, otherwise buy new.
