Polaroid 4641-TLXB LCD TV won't turn on

We recently hooked our laptop to the TV - seemed to work OK. One day later the TV will not turn on. Red LED on front is lit as usual (= 120V from the wall). Could the laptop resolution or hibernation cause a problem?

Help!!??

There are 2 circuit boards inside our Polaroid 4641-TLXB. Neither of them look like the photos in the posting. In the top (power) board, I see a number of caps but none seem to be bulging.

    I need more advice.

    Thanks

The last "expert" told me a TV repair shop could fix the problem - I kinda knew that! I'm looking for online help. I'm fairly handy and if someone will give me a silkscreen designation for the part that probably needs replacement, I'll give it a try.
I don't need another "tech" to tell me to go to a TV repair shop!!!!

Am I getting my money's worth? NOT YET!!

The only thing that the laptop would do to the tv if it had a power surge go through laptop into tv causing the control box inside the tv to stop working, if you know what your looking for the part number for the box is: 909KS1IF4613UAPH. Hope it helps.

Hi!

First of all please unplug the TV for an hour or more. If this power reset does not allow the TV to turn on component failure is indicated. These sets are assembled using the wave soldering process they are known for having cold solder connections. The safety circuitry shuts the TV set down when it detects a problem. This model of TV has over 2,000 parts which include millions of transistors inside the integrated circuits. The capacitors will change value, leak and become defective. Resistors will change value and burn. Integrated circuits and transistors can go bad. This can cause other components to become defective, which can have a domino affect and cause other parts to fail. Replacing one defective part may make the TV operate for a short time but the part will fail again since if the parts that caused the failure to begin with are not replaced. The only way to know for sure what is causing the problem and for proper repair all the electronics must be diagnosed with the correct electronic test equipment and the correct skills to use the test equipment.

If you want to repair it yourself then you must be having an oscilloscope and has a knowledge to operate it.

If you decide this is not something that you can do it yourself then this repair will be about $100 to $300. If the problem is a bad circuit board, and if the board can be repaired or has to be replaced. A small TV repair shop will often charge less for the repair than a large electronics repair facility.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

The infrared receiver light just keeps blinking red and TV won't power on. Tried unplugging for a little while but didn't help.

kindly count the blinking led to diagnose where the fault came from..

also try the initial check....open the back cover and inspect the power supply board for any bulged capacitors inside..

When we run the satellite through a DVD player, the volume works fine. When we don't, we get bad static and popping. Dish Network has replaced the remote and the DVR, so it appears to be the TV.

I would assume the problem would be either in the cabling or the DVD player. Have you tried running thecable straight from th receiver to the tv?

Polaroid 4241-TLXB wont stay on

I think I may have just solved this issue. Remove the back covers and turn the tv on until it the screen goes black. There will be a little red led that will light up when the screen goes black. right above that light there is 4 little swiches, the bottom one is labled BURN. Switch that one to the opposite direction. I don't know how but mine has been working for a couple days now with no issues. GOOD LUCK!
