kenwood microwave cj/99ss, lamp gone out, how do i remove and replace it

  • dontgiveup Dec 12, 2007

I am having the same problem. The microwave is General Electric, Model JES1288SH02. I have found the lamp at a few sites listed as Mfr part WB36X951. But, I have no idea how to replace it. There is nothing in the owners manual regarding this. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

This has been taken care of, thank you.

    1) find weird looking unconventional screwdriver, 3-4 hrs
    2) unplug unit, 5 sec
    3) remove cover, 30 sec
    4) replace bulb, 45 sec
    5) secure cover, 30 sec
    6) plug in unit, 5 sec

P.S: Is there anyway someone could make the simple process of replacing a light bulb even more complicated? I've never seen such an outrageous design flaw. Speaking of educated derelicts... I take my hat off to the designers of this unit, this definitely takes the cake.

Very Simple Replacement for the GE JES1288SH02 bulb. The stainless seel body comes off with the removal of just 4 security torx screws. I bought my new bulb online. Available at many sites. Unplug the wire harness, and pull the bulb body off the two plastic prongs which hold it inline. Reverse to replace new.

Determining the Age of Your Maytag Appliance

This advice applies to all appliances manufactured by Maytag. Determining the manufactured date of most appliances is accomplished by looking at the SERIAL NUMBER. On Maytag appliances this is determined by the following method:

The LAST two letters in the serial number identifies the date code.

Example: 123456FY

The 1st Letter is the YEAR.

A – 1978/2002
B – 1966/1990
C – 1979/2003
D – 1967/1991
E – 1980/2004
F – 1968/1992
G – 1981/2005
H – 1969/1993
J – 1982/2006
K – 1970/1994
L – 1983/2007
M – 1971/1995
N – 1984/2008
P – 1972/1996
Q – 1985/2009
R – 1973/1997
S – 1986/2010
T – 1974/1998
U – 1987/2011
V – 1975/1999
X – 1988/2012
Y – 1976/2000
Z – 1977/2001

The 2nd Letter is the MONTH

A – JAN
B – JAN
C – FEB
D – FEB
E – MAR
F – MAR
G – APR
H – APR
J – MAY
K – MAY
L – JUN
M – JUN
N – JUL
P – AUG
Q – JUL
R – SEP
S – AUG
T – OCT
U – SEP
V – NOV
W – OCT
X – DEC
Y – NOV
Z – DEC

NOTE: Some later model Maytag appliances are manufactured by Whirlpool. The serial numbers may be in a different format. Check the MODEL number for any of the following prefixes:

106, 110, 198, 562, 664, 665.

These prefixes indicate the manufacturer as Whirlpool.

Interior light on JVM1490sh went out. How do I replace it?

It looks like this one was not designed to be replaced by the consumer, so you would have to remove the oven from the wall, take the outer cover off, then replace the "holder assembly" which is a lamp holder, lamp, and lead wires.

It is HOLDER ASM part number WB36X102 drawing "INTERIOR PARTS (2)" reference number 1207.

To remove the oven from the wall, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

If you misplaced yours, you can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts here.

Lights permanenly ON

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or no bright, too. Sometimes this will similarly affect the exhaust fan operation or inside light, too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

I have a Panasonic NN-9850. The oven lamp is out (actually exploded when we boiled some water). The oven seems to work fine except it needs a new lamp. Apart from finding the right lamp part number, I'm...

Well, as luck would have it, you can still download the NZ version of this owner's manual - it looks like it is correct.

The manual does not refer to the bulb, so if there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (most often on the rear or side)
then disassembly will be required.

You'll need to remove the outer cover (wrapper) to get to the bulb.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Microwave interior light

Very easy to replace...at least on my JVM1790. Remove the top vent....the long plastic thing that runs along the top of the MW. Two screws on top of the micro. Behind the charcola filter (if you installed one) is an access area to the bulb. remove one screw and the entire assy comes out. Simply R & R the bulb.

MICROWAVE BULB

Hi There!
Most microwave ovens today requires you to remove the cover to replace a lamp. Normally situated next to the Magnetron. Check the inside cavity for tiny holes where the light is suppose to shine through. This will indicate where the lamp is situated. Remember to unplug from mains before opening the unit and try not to touch the High Voltage components. They may still be charged. Good Luck, JUS004
