Hi check in bios if the usb port is not disabled, also try to connect another device to it for example usb stick. If it's working you may need install drivers for your device first.

  1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product. NOTE: The USB cable connects to the port on the back of the product. The port is labeled with the USB icon (c01424575.gif ). Remove the cartridges from the product.
  2. Wait for the 'Insert Cartridges ' message to display on the control panel.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  4. Wait 60 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button .
  6. Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
  7. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
  8. Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.

Try All of your USB ports, some ports are not powered. If you continue to not have any response, the factory warranty should replace it.

The SimpleTech 160GB ext. drive has a usb 2.0 cable with a y plug. I can only plug in one but I use the additional power supply. I get a message at times telling me to use the usb 2.0 port for faster...

You are using the correct connection, the external power supply is powering the drive, so the USB cable is just handling data. I believe the message may be telling you that you will get faster performance using a USB 2.0 connection, it is probably sensing that your computer's USB port is USB 1.1.

Please tell me what wrong with my WD passport, it work normal when i connected it to computer, but when it is connected to laptop, it does not work, it does not get any power (no light indicated). Thanks

USB ports carry electricity, as well as data.

While the USB ports on your desktop are OK, the USB ports on your laptop are not sending enough voltage/amperage to power your device.

There exist 'Y-cables' that connect to TWO USB ports on the laptop, and draw power from BOTH ports, to push more power to the device. Try such a cable.

My printer does not startup...

Normal 0 Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

The screen on my sansa clip mp3 stoped working and now my computor dosent recognize it any what should i do.

I'm assuming that there's currently no response from the device - if you are still getting music and other lights from it; ignore the following.

These devices use USB to charge. It is possible that your USB port is actually the thing not working. Have you attempted plugging it into another computers USB port, or a standalone USB Hub that uses a power adapter? Also, some ports won't provide enough power to charge - if you are using a non powered hub this may be the case - these can also include those handy USB ports on the side of the keyboard.

Also, verify your USB cable is good - this can be difficult as the Sansa's use a proprietary connector. It's not likely to just go bad, but check to see that it fits properly and doesn't appear broken.
