Question about JVC AV-32D305 32" TV
ModelJLC32PC3002 Serial 1DA1023300415 Remote 098003060012/120515 C I have Tivo through DirectV. Batteries are fresh in the remote control, however, I am unable to control the volume with the tv remote nor the DirecTV remote. DirecTV stated they no privy to any other manufacture's product. Please advise what action should be taken to correct this malfunction. The tv was purchased new approximately 2 years ago. Thanks. Gregory
Check the remote control for its infrared emission by pressing all buttons on it. Check it with fresh batteries. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. "i already paid for the tv so why pay for something that should be readely available to me in the first place I should have access to all the features on the tv ".. WRONG!!!!!!!!!You should have a warranty for this TV but it's old , anyway. First,receive a reference image (let's say CNN).Second:press "Sleep Timer" key and set the value to "0". Then press "Display" and "Video Status" keys at the same time. Third: use "Vol +/-" and " Channel +/-" to select "2.DEF(D)".Go to "D03: V.SIZE" and modify step by step the value for best fitting. There is also switch " SW401" on the main board for centering the image . Finally, press "EXIT" key till you exit the "Service Menu". Don't try to modify anything else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not having seen that particular one, remote cases usually have a couple
screws under the battery to lock the case together and then a number of
plastic tabs around the perimiter that hold the joint closed.
find the screws (sometimes they hide them under labels) - I don't know
what it is about screws that manufacturers don't like to show.
Either think they are not cosmetic or don't want us take-it-apart
maniacs to get in. Anyway, get the screws loose then (this is the
hard part) carefully pry open the case joint, feeling where and how the
tabs snap out and then be careful not to have everything inside go
flying when the last one lets loose. Almost impossible to not
leave little gouge marks in the joint.

The square box is not a channel lock it's closed caption and labled CC in your menu.. Go into the menu and set CC off... No more box...

This maybe a sticky one.
#1. Original remote may have something spilled in it or may have dirty battery contacts.
First check battery contacts and make sure it's not corroded. Clean with small brush and baking soda. Let dry thouroughly and replace with fresh batteries.
If this isn't the problem or you tried this, then move on.
Next, Get these materials. A cloth, 50% amonia and 50% water sulution two small blad pocket knife and a philips head screwdriver.
Some remotes will have screws holding remote covers and internal board and others do not. If your remote have screws, remove them all. If not, then start prying your remote apart with your pocket knives. Do so very carefully as not to damage anything inside.
Next, lay down remote button facing down, and remove circuit board. Now, take note of rubber button pad(s) position(s) and remove them. Place these pads in your water - amonia solution.
Clean all cntacts and rubber pads, and remote housing. Now before reassembling remote, look at the IR lamp at end of board. Look underside and notice solder joints. Wriggle lamp and see if solder joints move. If so, have this resoldered. Now reassemble remote and give this a try.
#2) Codes may have not been entered right with your new universal remote. Go through all codes again just to be sure.
#3) IR receiver in set maybe damaged or not receiving power to it or the microproccessor has quit responding to the remote commands. Have a good technician check into it if problem is evident that your set has simply stopped responding to remotes.
