If it came with the remote & there are no pull chains on the fan, then you probably can only use the remote. Probably needs a new receiver. What make/model of fan is it?

Help. I need help properly connecting wires on a new ceiling fan.

Usually, the fans with remotes will dim the lights by holding the light button for a few seconds. So, the red wire would stop this feature if wired directly to the fixture. That would eliminate the wire coming out of the receiver for the lights. If you want the light to dim, then tape off the red wire, so the remote will dim them. The wall switch won't work anymore. If you want to connect the red wire , tape off the wire from the receiver that connects to the light sockets and connect the red wire to the wire for the light sockets. This will operate the fan but the remote will not dim the lights. If you have a motor speed controller in the wall from the old fan, remove it and replace it with a switch or eliminate the switch altogether so the remote will control the fan speed.

If you have a switched outlet you can plug it into that and operate it with the wall switch. There are also many products like the "clapper" out there that work great as well.

Casablanca Isatope 52 inch fan not working

The combination of wall switch control and remote control tends to throw the unit into a tizzy. Try disconnecting power at the source and starting all over again. You may have to abandon wall switch control and rely solely on the remote.

Turn on without remote control

If the TV was switched OFF by remote control for the last time, you can't switch it back ON, without its remote control.
Just try this. Unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket. Wait for at least 5 minutes and plug it back. Switch it ON by its front panel power ON/OFF switch. Just press any button [Ch UP / Ch DN or Vol UP / Vol DN] Sometimes this might turn ON your TV.

You probably have a wire nut connection that is just barely connected. Perhaps it's a connection between stranded wire and solid wire where only one of the strands is making contact with the solid wire.

The remote controls the fan speed but wont dim or control the light. the unit wont work if the light switch is off so I cant use the fan at all unless the light is turned on

mcdevito75 here, Generally the Ceiling fan motor is hooked up by-passing the wall switch but still to the hot laed going to the wall switch whlie the lights are hooked up to the hot lead after the wall switch, So without the remote, Manually operate your fan and lights. First with the wall switch off the fan should work and the lights no work. Now turn the fan off with the pull chain on the fan shroud close to the ceiling. Now turn wall switch on and lights should work with wall switch and the fan should also work. if so, re-program the remote or change the batteries or even re--place the remote.

Wall remote that controls ceiling fan & lights not working

Either the bulb is blown or the connection under the wire nut is loose. First check the bulb then turn off the power at the panel and check each wire nut by unscrewing it and making sure that the wires are tightly twisted together before reinstalling the wire nut.

Wireless ceiling fan

there are remote controlled fan out on the market.

there are also devices the make it remote, but the cord is for power so i dont think you can hide the wires to much without going thru the ceiling.

if you have no access of the cieling then the wire must be there for powering of the fan run along the wall, try stapling the wire to the cieling like around the egdes of the ceiling then perhap painting the wire the same color of the ceiling.

you do not have much option to work with.

you have to make sure you buy the right remote controll

but it still need power.

there a site for remote controls for fan or just buy a new fan all together. im sure they put the plug there for a reason because if you use the fan alot they do go bad.

Good luck

Hunter ceiling fan w/ remote won't work

You need to change the receiver inside the fan. It is located in the top canopy of the fan. you don't have to buy a new remote just the receiver to save money and match the dip switches to the remote.
