I have been very successful in retail fro many years. Staying very honest and leading by example is the first step to success. Your customers always come first and deserve the best care and consideration from you and your staff. Always give complete and fair answers to questions or concerns and when you do not have the answer, quickly do the necessary research to gain the knowledge you need. Always be ready to step up and help your staff understand what is expected from them, be ready to teach when they need help. I always had staff count their till drawer with me and make sure it balanced. Have a printed report from the till/computer to follow so you can identify errors. Always be conscious of security and keep money locked in the safe unless you are in an office area where you can close the door. Implement a fair but strict expectation that the counts balance. Be compassionate as surprises can happen to anyone.
