Question about Dell Inspiron 1464 Notebook
Why my laptop(dell inspiron 1464) stuck while working? with continuous sound & displays one color for whole display. can't do anything except pressing power off button. Pls help me regarding this..
First check that your memory ( RAM) are firmly seated.Press on the memory sticks to make sure they have good contact.
Also The issue could be related with the operating system, as for instance in some cases the OS causes computer turns on, and turns off again. what I can suggest is that you re install the operating system again, or reboot computer to the factory defaults from the rescue CDs that you made. If the problem still exists , then there must be some hardware issue. In which I recommend you contact Dell support.

If the diagnostics displays on the LCD screen but you get no display when Windows starts to load, it sounds like you have a video software driver problem. Try tapping the F8 key when you power on your laptop and boot in Safe mode. If it works in safe mode then you need to check you driver. You can also try connecting the laptop to an eternal monitor and see what happens.

If the Num lock is lit constant, and the Caps Lock and Scroll Lock keys are flashing, the system is reporting a memory error. Power off the system, remove the battery, and follow the user manual from support.dell.com to reseat the memory module(s). If the error persists, you may need to replace the memory and/or the system board of the portable.

in that case, Try boting in safe mode by tapping F8 key as soon as u see Dell and it will give u advance boot option, when u get that , select Safe mode, and if you are able to boot to desktop , Go to device manager by Start>right click on MY COMPUTER>manage > on right Device manager.
Check under Display Adapter and uninstall whatever is under it, by making a right click on it and uninstall ,
But in case you are not able to see Desktop in safe mode aswell, Only option is to do OSRI.
As your screen is fine as you can see Dell.
Hope this will work

Your laptop either goes to hibernate or sleep mode when you close the lid. Then, when you open the lid up, the screen is still off because your pc already hanged/froze and could not wake up at all (usual problem in vista). Off course, hard shutdown would fix it. But actual fix is under power options on your control panel. Check your current scheme and edit it. There are options there that you can select to "do nothing when closing the lid"
Hope this helps
