You have to remove the cover to get at the fuse. They are usually close to where the cord enters the microwave.

All controls are dead, but light remains on. Is it a fuse?

well even if it was a fuse dont try fixing it yourself,,,
all the fuses are not the same as a 13 amp plug there mostly slow blow fuses and very short there is a hight power fuse in the but if you try to get at it you may kill yourself trust me on this,,, there is a big capacitor in the unit that holds over 1000 volts, just brush up on it and your are very dead! have you ever seen a stun gun work??????? well this cap is its very big brother
and it will bite you realy hard, thats if you ever fell it?
my advice is,, get a guy in to fix it for you, pricy yes
but how much is your life worth? £50 ?????
play this one on the safe side

Generic Comment:

First check the breaker - then check that you are not on a GFI protected line.

Remove the cover. Somehwere probably on the right hand side near where the power cord comes in should be a fuse.

This should answer your question. I dont think this is your problem, however. The fuse Im talking about protects the entire device. You have a burned out light and a fan that doesn't work.

With the cover off, it should be easy to find the light and inspect, check and replace it if necessary. You can inspect the fan at the same time and maybe discover why it isnt running if that is indeed the case.

I hope this helps you

Model mw8109w just stoped .No display of clock or anything.

You have checked the circuit breaker - RIGHT?!?!? Looked for a tripped GFI?!?!?

Unplug the machine ... Remove the cover. DONT TOUCH THE SILVER CAN - LETHAN

Look for a fuse on the floor of your machine near where the cord enters. If you have a volt/ohm meter, check it with that meter. If you dont know what Im tralking about, get a paper clip, a flash light light and a flash light battery.

Bend the clip in a manner that will allow you to touch the both the bottom of the battery and the side of the flash light light while put place the metal tip of the light on the top of the battery. The light should lilght.

Now, place the fuse between the bottom of your battery and the end of your paper clip. If the light lights, your fuse is good. If it doesn't llight, your fuse if probably bad.

Get a replacement at an appliance or auto parts place.

I hope this solves your trouble.

How do you know the fuse in the microwave is no good?

first you need to see if the energy is being produced, go to an electronic store, here in UK Maplins ( US radio shack) and purchase some standard 5mm red led's cut off the leads close to the led.palce them in the oven and put on cook for 5 seconds, if they light then you have energy. if not then start looking for a large fuse inside the casing, check this and then check the control fuses on the boards.
lots of shops sell cheap fuse testers. best of luck
