Try pulling out the center sheets first, as they are not in contact with any rollers, also if you look inside on the left side of the printer you will see gears that drive the paper through that you can turn with your fingers to drive the paper either toward the exit or toward the back of the printer.

Paper does not go in straight when manualy fed and begins to crumple

When this happens it is usually because there is a small piece of paper stuck in the paper's path, probably just the other side of the roller. If the printer is meant to take listing paper with holes in the edge, it is very easy for a piece to break off because the edge is perforated. Often printers have a 'straight through' pass and you can access the back of the rollers via a door at the rear of the machine.

Make and Model of the printer are useful in such questions :>)

Hi,

To clear a paper jam:
  • Pull Carefully
If the sheet of paper is visible at the output slot of the printer (in other word, it stopped on its way out of the printer), try pulling carefully on it. If it pulls smoothly and easily, then carefully pull it the rest of the way out. If there is resistance, then stop and go on to the next step.
  • Open the Cover
Open the printer cover and wait (in the case of an inkjet printer) for the carriage to stop moving. Carefully, slowly pull out any paper that is caught there.
  • Take Care
Do NOT pull paper out from where it was feeding into the printer (where the blank paper enters the device). The rollers on your printer may only go in one direction, and if you force them the wrong way, you could damage the machine.
Be careful of the following:
  • Laser Printers
If you have a laser printer, be very careful when pulling out the paper -- laser printers can get hot.
  • Paper Shreds
If any paper tore, either during the jam or while you were removing them, remove any appliances that you can (paper trays, etc.) and look for the shreds of paper. Try to make sure nothing has been left behind.
If you have frequent paper jams:
  • Don't Overload
Overloading your paper tray can cause paper jams. Your manual may say that your input tray can hold 250 sheets -- but if you keep getting jams, try loading 225 sheets instead.
  • Check the Paper
Check the minimum/maximum paper weights that your printer can handle. Paper that is too thick, or too thin, can cause jams.
Goodluck..

What does an adf jam mean? what do i have to do to fix that? dell photo 964

The ADF is the "automatic document feeder". It's at the top of the printer. It's where you place multiple sheets of paper on a tray to get fed into the copying part of the printer.
There is either a sheet of paper jammed in there or a piece of a paper stuck in there.

I think the paper is crumbled at the backsite of the printer. This is mostly caused by the exitrollers. These are mounted at the back and top site of the printer. Replacing them sould solve the problem.

I just had a customer with this problem. Turns out they had a paper jam. 1 piece of paper from the paper tray was about 1/3 of the way up the paper path (had some ink on it). But it was stuck. They should have had a paper jam error but instead had a "no cartridge installed" error. Go figure.

Have you tried cleaning the paper feed roller(s)? Either soap & water OR isopropyl alchohol with a cotton ball will do, just make sure the rollers are dry before trying to print again, otherwise damage to imaging unit (drum/toner unit) could occurr. If the printer doesn't feed in the first place, the printer thinks it has a jammed paper, thus opening paper tray and front cover resets misfeed/ jam condition. Let me know your progress....Tim

Miss feeds when print multilpe pages

The paper feed solenoid is sticking, it can be seen thru a hole in the back with the door opened. Not easy to get to, but I have been able to bend the stop tab slightly and run just fine.

Brother Intellifax 1800C-jamming issue

First, check your rollers for a small piece that may be stuck between the rollers causing the jam.

Second, make sure there is not to many sheets in your tray.

Third, make sure that you have not pushed the paper down to far in the tray this uaually makes the machine grab more than one sheet.

good luck

Automatic Paper feed

Check the feeder roller inside the printer for any foreign substance stuck to the roller, this may cause it not to grip properly. You can also try a few sheets at a time and make sure the paper tray is gripping the paper, but not too hard. If this fails, the roller may be out of place somewhat, try to reposition it. Let me know how you get on.
