SOURCE: 1) No variable speed; 2) Grinding sound when using <high2speed>, although drill still works

starting with the variable speed the switch part # is 2607200457 and list for 47.58, the gearbox part # is 2606200930 and lists for 75.90 and lastly the motor part # is 2607022865 and lists for 75.90, the grinding could be the motor bearing going out or the magnets cracked, if you want to tackle this I suggest going to Boschtools.com and on the left side towards the bottom type in your model number so you can look at a breakdown of this tool. Before I started spending that kind of money I would think about possibly replacing it. If I have helped you would you please rate my response accordingly and Thank you.

SOURCE: DeWalt DW972 cordless drill has intermittent

have to replace whole trigger assembly.

worn brushes in the motor can also cause intermittent function, if you havent already checked those. i'd replace those first if they have never been replaced or look worn, broken, cracked, or if springs seem worn.

Trying to change drill bit on Craftsman Rotary Variable speed drill

Lock the spindle (small chrome button near the tool's nose or lever at the power switch). You'll probably need to rotate the spindle by hand as much as one full turn as you do this, to get the lock to drop into place.

With the spindle locked, use your supplied wrench to turn the collet nut counter-clockwise (as seen from the cutter end) about one full turn. The collet should now be plenty loose enough to release the cutter / wheel / drill.

I have craftsman angle drill #315.115760, it no longer has variable speed, only high speed as soon as you start the trigger. Do you know what would cause this problem?

the switch has become damaged. will need to be replaced or cleaned. masonry dust can get into the switch over time.

Variable speed not working

The variable speed function is controlled by the switch. If you only have off and full on, the only fix is to replace the switch (Bosch Part Number 2607202013).

most drill presses use a capacitor start motor with internal switching . a variable speed control will not work most rely on step pulleys for speed control. possibly you could have blown your capacitor

Looking for a supplier of the speed control part

The best bet is to go on to ebay and buy a used one or onto craigs list. Unfortunately when these tools get a few years old, for Sears [craftsman] for example it is 10 years. Joe
