Why is refridgerator of side of side freezing all foods while the freezer side works fine.

Why is the refrigerator side of my Whirlpool side by side (model # WSF26C3EX01) freezing all foods even down in the produce drawers. I gradually moved temp up to stop the food from freezing - now maxed out the temperature gauge control and it is still freezing. Freezer works fine. Sometimes the ice maker will stop working. Ice cream in the freezer is fine.

SOURCE: Items sometimes freeze on refrigerator side of unit - model GSS25LGMA

It is most likely a bad damper motor.  This is where the cool air comes out into the fridge section.  On this model it is a fairly common problem and comes a whole assembly.  The part # is WR49X10091 and will cost anywhere from $100 to $122.  Knowing this model I would bet this is your problem.  If the damper is bad and stuck open cold air will just keep blowing in.  It is suppose to open and close based on the temp setting.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

SOURCE: Ice maker will not work

There's no ice If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order:

  • It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these:

    • If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire.

    • If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire.

In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary.

  • The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

Small or too few ice cubes If the ice maker is producing ice poorly--making small cubes or too few cubes--you probably have a clogged water line, a defective water-inlet valve, or a defective ice maker mold thermostat that isn't cycling properly. Check these:

  • The water line that's attached to the back of the refrigerator. Make sure you have good water flow. If the flow is poor, repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water.

  • The water-inlet valve. Replace it if it has failed.

  • Check the freezer temperature. If should be 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker mold thermostat. Make sure that it's cycling properly.

Specks in the cubes If you find black or gray specks in your ice cubes, have a look at the ice cube tray. If the protective coating is peeling away, the most economical solution is to completely replace the ice maker.

SOURCE: what temperature should my maytag

Your refrigerator temperature should be between 35-40 degrees F, the freezer should be 0-8 degrees F. Both of the control settings should be in the middle, so if its on a scale of 1-9, 5 is middle, if its on a scale of A-J, E or F would be the middle, if its a temperature setting, 37 and 0 is normal setting.

SOURCE: I have a GE Profile PSW23PSTA Refrigerator. The

ok.There is a water valve at the back of ice-maker unit. This valve open and the water enters the ice maker unit. This valve only opens when the ice maker has emptied the collected ice.But if in case this valve is not functioning properly and due to that very small amount of water is always entering the ice-maker unit and ice collected gets wet.So first thing to get the valve checked. Its a valve with twin nozzles. One goes to ice maker and one for water dispenser. In most of the cases this valve checked out faulty. But if valve checked out ok then other possibility to be checked is water fill tube which enters the ice maker section. If this fill tube is got kinked or its cracked then it will leak water to the ice maker section.------------- If any of the part checked faulty then you can get it from online site like www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.---------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

The refridgerator is cool, but not cold.....of course the same for the freezer. the freezer is running, just nor getting cold enough. food is thawing and thermostat is reading almost 40 degress in both...

Je your defrost thermostat, heaters or timer is not working correctly or at all. The freezer has the coils that freeze the freezer and cools your fresh food area. When your defrost does not work these coils become blocked with ice and will not let air from fans pass through!!! Leaving a moderate temp in fresh food area.

The fridge doesn't cool anything

There is a damper that allows air into the frig side to cool it. There should be a tech sheet in the toe grill with a diagnostic to check the damper operation.

Refridgerator problem

Not sure about your model, but most of these style side by side refridgerators use the cold air from the freezer to cool the refridgerator. Sounds like your "flapper" valve is broken. At the top left in the refridgerator there should be plastic shroud. Remove it and your flapper valve should be under it. You will most likely find the flap broken off of it. You may have success using epoxy to glue it or you may have to replace the valve assembly.
Good luck.

Refridgerator side of my refridgerator keeps freezing my food

The problem may be low gas or it may be the thermostat is set too low.  First, look at the possibility that you may have the food partly blocking an air channel which is where the very cold air is coming from..  Fridge side should read about 40 F after the door is closed for about an hour.  If colder, adjust.
