see your local dealer and tell them you have a bad power board. or l-print. this is a known issue and bernina is covering it under there 5 year warranty. the 5 volt output is faulty on some some models

You can oil any two metal parts that move togeather or through each other. Do not oil bearings and do not oil gears. Do not use 3 in 1 oil or WD-40. Use regular sewing machine oil.
801's were made from 1979 - 1982. The way Bernina dated these on the machine is by the serial number. Your number would probably start with a 0 or a 1. 1970 is a 0, 1971 is 01, 1980 is 1, 1981 is 11, 1990 is 2, 1991 is 21 etc. etc.

my problem was the timing on my Bernina 217 but fixya wouldn't recognize that machine so I picked a Bernina anything. I fixed it thru perseverance... i knew what it was supposed to look like just not where the eye of the needle was supposed to line with the hook.... I've got it now... thanks i do NOT need and upgrade.

SOURCE: How do I change the
The machine should have came with a light bulb tool, to help you get it out.
Very very hard to do that with out the tool.
You can get it at your local bernina dealer, or they should change it for free.
Does that machine have a power switch on the back top of the machine, there is a good chance that if it does it is bad. They go bad all the time. Some dont have the switch.
