This may help, if your machine is electronic, try disconnecting the power cord for 5 minutes, if this doesn't do it, the brown out has caused a lt more problems.

Why is the SP light flashing when the machine has filled with water and is ready to go

sp is the code for stand by or pause
so if you have set a soak period then it will stay there until the soak period has finished
if it is sp and you have pressed pause/start extra time the machine is in pause mode until you press start again

My FP washing machine has starting leaving brown sludgy marks on my clothes. Do I need to descale the machine? Im in New Zealand and the water isnt particularly hard. Thanks for your time, Emma

I'm guessing you use fabric softer....Get some finish dishwashing powder and put a wash on with high water level with no cloths in it. let it do it's normal wash but before it drains any water out, pause the wash let it soak over night. next day unpause it and let it finish. Repeat if needed and do the same thing again with out any dishwashing powder in it to make sure it rinses all the soap out.
The black sludge is cause by using fabric softener. The costic in the finish powder will eat in to the sludge and soften it. If its really baked on it my need to soak for longer, more powder or it may need to be stripper and cleaned.

Got a hec washing machine its the 5th time it has broken down warranty ran out 3 days ago it overfills with water and wont do a cycle

the fact that the machine has broken down five times inside the warrenty i would suggest you contact trading standards as i feel you would have recall on this the fact that the warrenty run a few days ago does not really matter and could be argued as to the problem sound like a faulty diaphram switch this controls the water fill good luck

Bosch Classixx 1200 wont start. Ready light is on, door is firmly shut, but start button does not do anything?

these things can be confusing! you may have it set on 'delayed start' or 'soak'- check the other indicator lights! 'soak' would fill and pause for a while, while 'soaking'- 'delayed-start' can be set for an 8 hr. delay on our fridgidair front-loader. don't know about the bosch!
check settings. if ready light is on, there doesn't seem to be a problem with door latch.
good luck!

Possibly the timer. next time it wont stop filling turn off the washer. if it still fills you have a water valve issue. Hope for the valve. Timers are big bucks.

Indesit W123 washing machine

it maybe your brushes are worn out, on alot of machines these days if the brushes wear the machine wont fill , or your motor itself could be faulty or your board. Unplug the machine , take the back off , get yourself a test meter disconnect the motor and put the probes from the meter and put it across the tags, if the motor is wrong you wont get continuity between 2 tags normally 1 and 5 looking from the top of the block going down

if you do cold washs all the time you get a build up of sludge between the drums you need to fill it with hot water and let it soak for a few hours and then put through a high wash to rinse out,no clothes.Or you can remove the drum and wash it .hope this helps
