SOURCE: How to connect toshiba dvr620 to cable box

I am using a Comcast Cable Box. Didn't feel like spending another $7-$9 service fee a month just to use the DVR.

First hook up an S-Cable to the S-Video slot (considered out) on the Cable box. Then place the other end into the S-Video In on the DVR620. Then place the Yellow, Red and White cables into the Cable box (these are considered out), then place the other end of the cords into the L1 LR and LL ports on DVR620 (Its in the back of the unit). Next, place an S-Video into the In slot on the television along with another set of Y,R and W cables into that same Video/Audio In slot. Take other end and put them into the audio out on the DVR620.

Once you have hooked up the aforesaid correctly, you will be able to watch your cable on the Video In/Source you hooked it up to and then just press Record when your ready to start making DVDs from TV. It's just as easy as the good old VHS player just a few extra steps to deter people from attempting it. Guarantee it works. Rec'ding Van Helsing on Telemundo right now.

If you have any other questions I'm here to help!

How to hook up to directv receiver and toshiba dvr620

s-video to s-video cable looks to be the best option here. Plus you'll need two phono to two phono cable for left/right audio.

I assume you want to make a dvd/vhs copy of the footage on the DirectTV receiver.

DVR620KU From the HDMI connector, how to get non-pinched vertical HDMI images on the TV monitor and on the DVD. Recorded DVD's have been Finalized

Using a DVD-RW disk, try ALL different recording settings even if they don't seem probable and record a sample. If output is correct with all BUT the HDMI-cable, go through ALL picture format settings on the TV when a HDMI-cable is used. Different discs and HDMI cables don't have anything to do with this. I'm still chewing on this...

Using the toshiba DVR620 and dubbing vhs to dvd+rw

I hook up an external monitor with a speaker. An old portable TV will do it, preferably one with a line in and line out. Connect your VHS machine to line in on the DVR620. Connect your monitor to line out and audio out. Monitor as you play.

How do I get my dvds to play on computor after finalizing disc.

Hello!
1) Are you sute that the DVD are finalized?

2) For me, it works either on tv and on computer. And if your DVD are readable on TV, it prooves the problem is not from your Toshiba DVR620 machine.

3) Maybe a problem on your computer?
A lack of codecs for your video player software ?
Try this for free: a pack of codecs DIVX, and it comes with a free video player and video converter software : http://www.divx.com/en

4) You can try also the video player VLC, it is free, and it reads almost everything! (It's a lot better than Windows Madia Player...)
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

5) Maybe the problem is in your hardware DVD player ?
If the autorun does not launch automatically, look at this tutorial :
Why does nothing happen when I insert a disc?

Hoping these cues can help... ;-)

Most cable boxes come with a universal one, if not just pick up a universal remote at any box store, most will have buttons for cable, tv, and at least one aux item.

I'm interested in possibly buying one of these units and would like to know if I can screw my cable directly to the unit and record tv programs right to a dvd or vhs tape

Unless there is a copyright infringment software block on the show or in the dvd recorder the answer is yes. There have been occasions when certain channels ar programs were not allowed to be copied but most are allowed. Talk to the salesperson who is selling you this unit and ask them if they are aware of any blocking software on the unit.
