SOURCE: how to remove chuck from drill press

I just looked at a breakdown for this tool and it is not that clear. But to get an owners manual you can go to Searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number and look at the same schematici I did and also order a manual for about 7.50. Usually though on a drill press like that it would be a morse taper. Do you see a slot cut thru the spindle on both sides, if so there should be a tapered key that came with the unit. In that case what you would need to do it put the key in the slot and tap it with a hammer to remove the adaptor and chuck. Let me know if I can help further

Hi wildoak1,

Welcome to fixya!

Found a forum where the guys were discussing various ways of installing the pinion return spring. Read down the page and you'll find where they start discussing it.: http://www.owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=72586&p=507720&hilit=replace+pinion+return+spring+Rockwell#p507720

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Keeps me working here......

Thanks,

Where can I buy a new chuck for my 15-091 dp?

You cn find MANY chucks on eBay. You need to verify the size and the mounting which is LIKELY a Morse taper. ONLY buy new ones. There are some for as low as $8.

Prefered brand is "Jacob's".

How fix Delta/Rockwell 15 drill press from chuck wobbling. I purchased a Delta / Rockwell 15 drill press model 15-091. The chuck wobbles. I ordered some wedges to remove chuck.jacobs #6 wedges After soaking in pb blaster I removed chuck with ease with the wedges. must have Now after looking at what is called the spindle I believe...it is wobbling. I wonder if I am looking at an arbor or the spindle? Above this piece is a threaded section that is about 1/2. I thought of maybe getting a jacobs 34-33c chuck to screw onto this. Seems like if the spindle/arbor is wobbling it still would not run straight or be difficult to properly seat it. I do know that some quills come with a slot to fit a wedge for removing the arbor. Mine does not have this. Without a proper way to remove an arbor it leads me to believe maybe it doesn't have an arbor. Seems that I am looking at the actual spindle. I need this drill press for precision work. If you know about this model.. Please Help !!!!! I am stuck. Do I need to buy a whole spindle? If it is in fact an arbor how are you supposed to remove it? I thought if it is an arbor I could take a grinder and cut 2 slots in the arbor. Then take a really thick washer and cut out a section. to make it a u shape then slide the washer into the grooves I cut out. Then use the wedges on top of that. After tapping the wedges I would think it would come free. Unless it is one solid rod with a taper at the end like an arbor usually has AKA the spindle....HELP!!!! I can't find ANY info on this anywhere. I know someone must have worked on these before.
