Question about Dryers
Yes, this is the avenue you should be following if you have already confirmed the external exhaust ventilation to be clean. Make sure you have the dryer unplugged before servicing anything inside the unit. There is still live voltage present, even with the unit turned off.
The front kick plate is removed by loosening the screws under the bottom front edge. With the screws removed, the panel will drop down, then come off. After you remove the kick plate, open the dryer door and remove the lint screen (you will need to do this in order to remove the air blower fan housing). With the lint screen removed, locate the screws on the blower fan housing. Remove the screws and remove the blower fan housing to access the fan. Blow out any lint accumulations and verify there is nothing caught in the fan that will prevent it from turning.
You're on the right track. The majority of all dryer heat related problems are attributed to poorly installed or clogged ventilation. Cleaning the vent ducting and dryer interior can drastically improve performance. If you have further questions, or need further assistance please let me know. I hope this helps you.
