Question about KitchenAid KAWS850L Top Load Washer

2 Answers

My washer seems to get "stuck". you can hear the motor trying to run, but the cycle won't continue. For example, the bin may fill with water and after it fills, it won't start swishing to wash. Or, it will swish, but then not drain. It pauses at different points of the cycle wash. The other day my boyfriend was doing laundry and it flooded through the back due to too much water. The appliance man said it was the motor, but I can't believe it would be the motor. Any ideas?

Unfortunately it does sound like the motor is weak. The only thing that doesn't fit in your description is the flooding unless he added water it shouldn't have flooded.

the valve is getting stuck in the on position. a new valve should rectify this problem. if not, then the motor controller water valve circuit is faulty and you should replace the motor controller.

If it fills with water but won't wash, is it the timer

hi mary,i just wrote and asked you for the model number,if this is a regular top load washer it could be the timer as long as you don't hear the motor running,if you do hear the motor running you could have a broken motor coupling because the drain pump is on the motor shaft so it will drain,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K1KHEogf3c
if you don't hear the motor it could be the timer, when it should agitate try tapping on the timer and see if it works,it has points in it and they can get stuck together or burn out and have no contact like you're saying but it's just a guess without seeing it but if the timer is advancing through with no agitation it could be the timer, did you try any other cycles

Washer hums but will not fill or start/ spin has water pressure and tub seems to move freely the model #on tag LTF2140ES0

If it doesn't fill it won't start any other cycle unless you move it ahead yourself. If it hums I am thinking it is trying to fill. Sounds like the valve is turning on to let water in but it is not getting through. My washer has a screen where the hoses go on and sometimes the screen becomes plugging with scale. If that is ok then the solenoid must be coming on but the valve is stuck. Does neither hot or cold settings work? Please rate my answer so I am rewarded points for it.

Water fills in, but wash cycle won't start. spin cycle works, changed motor still won't work

Its either in the lid switch or timer. Examine the lid switch. Try starting the wash cycle and press in on lid switch to make sure it activates. If the lid switch is good and you dont hear the motor trying to activate during wash than its in the timer. Does the timer advance? Please comment me back If you need further assistance.

The washer will not fill with water. When you try to start the cycle, you can hear a motor, but no water enters the well. The washer will empty and spin just fine.

Check the water inlet valve. Remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens inside the water inlet valve ports. Make sure they are clear of rust or debris. Check the solenoids using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty solenoid. I will attach a photo for reference. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Dishwasher will not run through its cycle

Hi

If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:

Water-heating cycle Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

  • On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

  • On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Timer Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

Please revert for further assistance and Do rate the solution as "FixYa" if found useful.

Thanks
Rylee

Maytag washer PAV2300 water over flow

from what I am reading on-line, it is the mix valve, aka water valve. Unplug the washer, then see if it still fills. If so, it's most likely stuck open, and needs to be replaced. about $22.00
