SOURCE: how to replace door seal of Hotpoint WF860 washing machine

Hi, This is a very simple and straight forward job. First turn off the washing machine and remove the plug from the wall and earth the plug on the cabinet of the machine to remove any residule current in the machine. Remove the top of the machine with the screws at the rear of the machine. You can now look in the top? Open the door and take off outer door seal clip ( look and you will see how ) If it is a plastic clip it will have a small cut out in the side for a small screwdriver to be put in a pushed open. It could even be a small spring that is laying in side the small lip of the door seal. You could now attempt the removal of the door seal if you can see the inner clamp to get a long screwdriver onto the screw! If not now remove the soap drawer. Remove screws from around the soap drawer and slide the facia to the right and it should all be off.. Then you can remove the three screws that hold the front on along the top and the same along the bottom edge of the front panel. This then will allow you to take off the front panel and have better access to the door seal. Then once you have replaced the door seal you just need to replace as you took off..
Good luck................

SOURCE: Hotpoint Door Seal WMA64

I have reproduced the details of my article: http://www.fixya.com/support/t1543617-door_seal
here. I hope this will give you the information you need.
Rule 1: BEFORE YOU START Turn off the mains, unplug at the wall, turn off the water supply.

The gasket is held in place on the drum by a large sprung wire ring with a screw tighten/release. To access this (Depending on the model), you will either have to go in from the top or the bottom of the machine. Usually the top.

Pull the machine out, go to the back and unscrew, usually 2 screws that hold the "Work top surface" top on the machine at the back. There are usually clips at the front of the top, so by lifting the rear clear and either pulling the top back, or giving it a tap forward, depending on the design, the top should now lift off.

You should now be able to look down at the drum and you should clearly see the rubber gasket fitted over the edge of the drum with the clip in place. Locate the screw in tensioner and undo it until it is possible to slip it forward and clear of the drum. You should now be able to simply pull the gasket away from the drum. Most machines rely on the door being closed to hold the gasket in place where it meets the chassis, it should just pull off if the door is open, but while you are lookiing inside, just check anyway. The assembly is simply a reverse of what is described above.

Stuff to consider: You may not be able to see the screw clip from the top, if so, tip the machine back and look from underneath. If you have to do this: Never tip the machine all the way onto its back, you may cause a water leak inside the machine. ALWAYS tip BACKWARDS, so the control panel for the machine is pointing up to avoid water getting to the control panel. I would recommend putting a chair behind the machine as you tip it, so the top back of the machine comes to rest on the seat and the machine is at about 45 degrees. this will give you access to underneath without a leak and make is a lot easier to tip it back on to its feet again afterwards.

SOURCE: replacing door hine on hotpoint washing machine

Its a ***** of a design. Mine is a Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 WD62. If you cant get the backing plate then get someone to tilt the machine right back and you can put your hand under to get it out. Then take the top off the machine(3 screws at the back). Then slide your soap tray right out,(put it to one side) you will then see 4 screws (Which hold in the other tray that holds the soap tray) take these out, you will then need to remove this white plastic tray to get your hand down the machine to reach the place were the backing plate goes. Once u have taken the screws out slide the soap tray holder to the left or right (can't remember) it will then come loose. You will then need to slide it back to lift it out the way (No need to take the pipes off the back of it) you may need to push the whole drum back at the same time you are pushing back the soap holder (Be gentle but it will come out). The holder should then lift up out the way, you can now get your hand down to hold the back plate on whilst you get a helper to affix the door. Make sure backing plate is on the right way, the screws will only go in one way (Check which way b4 u put it down into place). Then go backwards on all steps to put machine back together. This sounds like a load of **** but it worked for me and took about 15 minutes. Good luck!!

Lg p/no 3850dd3006a leaks at door

Every dishwasher door has a door seal. If the dishwasher is leaking water, it might be that the door seal is defective or worn out. Try closing the dishwasher door on a sheet of paper and see if the door seal is making good contact all the way around the door. If not, replace the door seal. If the door seal is good or has been replaced and there is still a leak check the door hinges. If the hinges are bent the door will not close properly and the hinges will need to be replaced

GE French Door PFS22MIS Door seals are torn at top of both doors. How difficult to replace?

use your model # to order new seals. they are easy to replace. Just grab an edge with your fingers and pull and the door seals will pull out of the groove they are in. to replace, start at the bottom center of each door pressing the seal into the groove. don't stretch the seal as you replace and it will fit perfectly.

Changing a door seal how do you replace the door seal ?

  1. Check the door seal size. Measure your door or doors, and take down the make and model number. Ads by Google
    '; for(i = 0; i '+ '' + google_ads[i].line1 + ' ' + google_ads[i].line2 + ' ' + google_ads[i].line3 + '
    ' + '' + google_ads[i].visible_url + ''; } s += ""; document.write(s); return; } google_ad_channel = '+7733764704+1640266093+5860073694+9911500640+9665908481+9016233241+8388126455+8941458308+8509902424+8509902424+9683278076+7122150828' + xchannels + gchans; google_ad_client = "pub-9543332082073187"; google_ad_output = 'js'; google_ad_type = 'text'; google_feedback = 'on'; google_ad_region = "test"; google_ad_format = '250x250_as'; //--> google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);
  2. 2Order a replacement door seal. It's easy to find them online. Make sure to check the model number for your refrigerator when you order it. When it arrives, hold the new door seal up against the old door seal to compare the size. The sizes are rarely incorrect, but it will save you the trouble of doing the job twice if you happened to receive the wrong door seal.
  3. 3Locate the screws. Lift the edges of the seal and find the screws underneath that are holding in the plastic liner and door seal. Often, the screws hold in a plastic liner, which in turn clamps the door seal to the door.
  4. 4Loosen the screws. Begin to loosen the screws that hold in the door seal. DO NOT take the screws all of the way out. It is unnecessary and will create more of a job for you. If at all possible, loosen only a few screws at a time, as you go.
  5. 5Remove the old seal. Once all of the screws are loose, the door seal should easily slide out from behind the plastic liner. Don't be too forceful when doing this step, since some plastic liners can be quite brittle and crumble if you are too rough. If the plastic is old, replace it.
  6. 6Insert the new seal. Begin slipping the small lip of the new door seal behind the plastic liner of the fridge. The best method is to start in the top corners and work your way around the door.
  7. 7Tighten the screws. Once the door seal is in a certain section, you can begin tightening the screws. Begin with the 8 corner screws, and then check the alignment of the door while closed. Also check that the seal is even and straight. If the door is twisted, you can easily manipulate the door to twist back into shape whilst the screws are loose. Then tighten the remaining screws.
  8. 8Apply powder. Use a bit of baby powder or talcum powder to prevent sticking. Rub some powder around the hinge side corners of the door seal, and where the seal slides. This will help to prevent the door seal from twisting as it meets the metal of the fridge. If this still doesn't prevent twisting, then wedge a screwdriver under the seal as you close the door and leave it shut for an hour.
  9. 9Check for gaps. Look for any gaps in the door seal, especially at the top on the opening side. These can form due to the door dropping or being out of alignment. One way to check is to turn on a flashlight and place it inside, then close the door and look for light.
  10. 10Fix any gaps in the door seal. Pack out the seal underneath the areas where the door seal has the gaps. This can be done with a small strip of weather stripping, as shown here, or a bit of tightly rolled up paper under the door seal. Alternatively, you can heat the door seal up with a hair dryer to fix the gaps. This softens the door seal and allows you to stretch it.
  11. 11Check the corners. If the application of powder hasn't prevented the door seal twisting, then wedge a screwdriver under the seal as you close the door and leave it shut for an hour. The door seal will then have enough time to mould into the correct shape.

The seals on the doors need replaced. They leak cold air and when you shut the freezer door the frig door pops open. How do I replace the seals?

You can peel back the seal looking behind it and there should be screws all the way around it. Or you problem could be caused by- The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

Frigidaire Dishwasher Leaking

I just found a service release number for my Frigidaire dishwasher that says it applies to Serial numbers TH632 through serial number TH737 made in 2007 for a replacement kit for the door seal at the bottom of the door. The bottom door seal has been changed, adding side seals that restrict the water surge from the center spray arm. The part number for the new seal is p/n 154588201. This seal can be replaced without removing the dishwasher or either of the door panels.
The seal is located on the bottom of the inner door panel and appears as a cream colored flexible
rubber blade bonded to a milky white colored plastic strip. To remove and properly install
replacement follow the instructions carefully.
1. Replacing this seal can be accomplished without disconnecting power from the unit.
Always use extra care when electrical power is present while serving an appliance.
2. Open door all the way down and remove lower rack. Set rack aside to a safe location.
3. Locate the seal on the bottom of inner door panel. Facing front of unit, the right side of the
seal can be pulled down slightly to facilitate removal.
4. Pull seal straight into the tub from right side.
5. With seal removed, and before installing replacement seal, locate the channel in inner door
panel that the seal mounts into. Locating this channel before installing the replacement can
make this procedure easier.
SERVICE FLASH
DW071
6. Place the new seal on a flat surface and measure from the bottom of the seal, (See Figure
1 to determine bottom of seal), up 3/8 "of an inch and place a mark with a pen or marker on
both ends (See Figure 2). If needed, scribe a straight line between these two marks this
will give you a guide when installing seal into the inner door panel.
7. The seal can only be installed one way. The end that holds this seal into the inner door
panel has a ½ inch notch cut in the right side. This notch allows the seal to be installed
around the end of the inner door channel that holds the seal.
8. Line up the seal along the bottom of the inner door panel and start from the right side, push
the seal into the door channel to the line marked in step #6.
9. With seal in place close the door, the tub will align the seal as needed.
10. Reinstall lower rack and operate unit to check for leaks.
If leaks continue to occur at the bottom corners, order Splash shield kit 154701001 for
dishwasher.

Before installing the kit remove and reinstall the lower door seal. To install the lower seal make
sure you measure up from the bottom of the seal 3/8 of an inch and mark the seal, do this on
both ends. This locates how far down the seal needs to be before closing the door. Do not
install this seal without measuring it first. After the lower door seal has been re-installed then
install the splash shields according to the instructions accompanying with the kit.
