Anterior hip replacement surgery information

you can google that and get lots of literature on the internet, especially if you look for a hospital that specializes in orthopedic surgery. they will give you pro's con's exercises to do after the surgery and an idea of what recovery will be. you could also arrange to talk to the home care people that will be assigned to you post op so you get an idea of how to prepare the living space as well as how much help you should expect to need. the one thing they may not tell you is that the pain medication you take post op may have codeine in it and this is very constipating as it slows the bowel activity down, also you tend not to be drinking as much water because that requires moving to get it, and get rid of it! so make sure you ask about a laxative or stool softener as well.
My only other suggestion would be that depending on your life style now, activity level etc. You maybe used to doing everything for everybody and if this is the case that your post op period could be ******* your emotional well being, you go from being able to do everything to almost nothing overnight and I found personally that was very hard to deal with. so don't be afraid to ask for help if the dark days stick around. Medical people can only help if you tell them everything. hope this helps some

Mayo clinic website

You should ask her doctor, and her doctor should be clear about ALL the medications and supplements she is taking. Melatonin is a natural hormone that nature uses to put our brains to sleep when it's dark, and we make less of it as we age. It's a "natural" supplement in that way only, because the amount sold is far more per dose than our bodies make naturally when we follow the normal light/dark cycle. It has far fewer side effects and problem of interactions with other drugs, but in rare situations it's not a good idea, anyway, for example bipolar disorder or seizure disorder. Taking extra does not help it work, and getting too much may be one of the reasons for "winter blues", so take note if her mood gets worse instead of more rested. Just double-check with the geriatrician doctor or Nurse Practitioner.

Deep pain in my right hip while walking

Symptoms of Hip Pain

Depending on the condition that's causing your hip pain, you might feel the discomfort in your:
  • thigh
  • inside of the hip joint
  • groin
  • outside of the hip joint
  • buttocks
Sometimes pain from other areas of the body, such as the back or groin (from ahernia), can radiate to the hip.
You might notice that your pain gets worse with activity, especially if it's caused by arthritis. Along with the pain, you might have reduced range of motion. Some people develop a limp from persistent hip pain.

Hip Pain Relief

If your hip pain is caused by a muscle or tendon strain, osteoarthritis, or tendinitis, you can usually relieve it with an over-the-counter pain medication such as Tylenol or a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as Motrin or Aleve.
Rheumatoid arthritis treatments also include prescription anti-inflammatory medications such as corticosteroids, or disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) like methotrexate and sulfasalazine.

Another way to relieve hip pain is by holding ice to the area for about 15 minutes a few times a day. Try to rest the affected joint as much as possible until you feel better.
If you have arthritis, exercising the hip joint with low-impact exercises, stretching, and resistance training can reduce pain and improve joint mobility. For example, swimming is a good non-impact exercise for arthritis. Physical therapy can also help increase your range of motion.
When osteoarthritis becomes so severe that the pain is intense or the hip joint becomes deformed, a total hip replacement (arthroplasty) may be a consideration. People who fracture their hip sometimes need surgery to fix the fracture or replace the hip.
Call your health care provider if your pain doesn't go away, or if you notice swelling, redness, or warmth around the joint. Also call if you have hip pain at night or when you are resting.
Get medical help right away if:
  • The hip pain came on suddenly.
  • A fall or other injury triggered the hip pain.
  • Your joint looks deformed or is bleeding.
  • You heard a popping noise in the joint when you injured it.
  • The pain is intense.
  • You can't put any weight on your hip.

1) Click the breaker all the way off as far as it will go, and then click back on. Check if well is pumping.

2) Turn power off. Go to pressure switch and remove cover.
Following link shows pressure switch.
Remove cover on pressure switch. Power if OFF!!!
Check if all the wires are firmly screwed down under each screw terminal.
Next, see if contact points are stuck together. There are 4 sets of points.
Push contact points apart if they are stuck.
Inset nail file between points. Push points together and hold firmly and draw out nail file to file off the carbon deposits.
Repeat 2-3 times to each set of points.
Turn breaker ON and check for sound of pump.

Dear FixYa, Do you have a telephone number to customers to contact for support with maintenance questions or possible repair or for the Drive Medical Duet Transport Wheelchair Chair Rollator Walker...

Hi Donald & Stephani,

FixYa is a product-support site where trained technicians and product-enthusiasts share their knowledge with product-owners. We are not affiliated with Drive Medical, but I think I can point you to them.

I've looked online, and you can find Drive Medical's site here (for when you do have internet access)- and their phone number for customer support and technical service is 877-224-0946.

I hope that helps.
