There are 2 possibilities in this problem.
If you are using Windows Vista, you should download updated USB driver from Sony Support. ( see Downloads )
Go to camera Menu and enable USB Streaming function so PC will recognize camera.

The Picture Package® version 1.0.x – 1.7.x software supplied with the
camcorder is not compatible with Microsoft® Windows Vista® operating
system. Sony is offering Picture Motion Browser version 2.0.13 software
as an alternative to use with the camcorder and Windows Vista operating
here some support and topics for your model
here is for xp ...
read veri careful cause I sow some issues like ...drivers for sony are already included...al you need is this here program suports...or issues like vista doesnt support anymore via USB streamming ...and the conexion must be made by I Link ..( iEEE ...)and stuff like this ...so even if you do not use vista ...try to read all that **** to be prepared in case you thinkindg about upgrading OS ...and it will not be a surprize for you when you do ....or >>>> if ya already done it ...and reading makes you thing it was better with xp ..maybe youwill consider changing back ...:P anyway Good luck !
if you want the original cd ....look for picture package for sony version 1.5
I didnt located it on sony cause they replaced it with this one ...as an update ...but Im sure it must be somewhere ...and prety easy to find...
