My Kodak Z812IS digital camera is not recognized by the computer. What is wrong and how do I fix it

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Kodak z812is shuts right down after 3 secs//took volt meter....3 volts at kodac oem battery...tried store alkaline batteries does same thing..

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you're using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

MY KODAK Z812IS WON'T FLASH WHEN PIC IS TAKEN

Try pressing the flash button on the top front right of the camera. If the camera is not on 'auto' mode, you can have flash, red eye flash, or no flash.
Hope this helps, regards Wayne

Can photos that were accidentally deleted from a SD card be recovered

yes, you can recover deleted photos from sd card with sd card recovery software like asoftech photo recovery, here's the steps that helped me

1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended one is this photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/
4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.
