Batteries should be conditioned before normal use by ensuring they are charged and then fully discharged for the first 3 to 4 charge cycles.

Acer Aspire 5734z-4725 battery not charging

If your laptop computer runs normally on the ac adapter, but the battery won't charge, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1) Remove the battery from the system.

2) Look at the connectors in the bay and on the battery for signs of physical damage.

3) Check the battery charge by pressing the status button or image on the battery near the LED's. Note: The lights indicate the current amount of charge on the battery. If all the LED's come on when you press on the butto, the battery is fully charged. If fewer lights are lit, then the battery is partially charged. If any lights flashm or blinkm there could be a problem with the battery.

4) Reinsert the battery; puch until it locks into place and the latch snaps back to the locked position.

Acer aspire wont turn on

Remove main battery, power up! no change, remove one stick of ram and power on, if same problem! remove second stick of ram and replace the first one back in, any change? if no! I recommend a professional at this time to assess possible motherboard issues.

Acer aspire 5935g battery problem

Many users do not use their notebook/notebook batteries correctly. The battery in a laptop/notebook/netbook is a rechargeable battery, like the battery in a Cellphone, a Digital Camera an eReader or an MP3/MP4/MP5 Player. This type of battery needs to both charge and discharge, if it is to perform to its maximum capacity and have a full, long life.

You would never dream of using a Cellphone, Digital Camera, an eReader or an MP3/MP4/MP5 Player only with the devices permanently connected to the mains electricity, because they are all devices that are designed to be used while the user is moving around whether indoors or outdoors, powered by their rechargeable batteries. the batteries of such devices are only recharged when the charge in their cells is depleted and then only for as long as it takes to restore full charge to them.

As with the other devices mentioned, a laptop/notebook/netbook's battery is designed for mobile use and the user should charge it to 100% full and then stop charging it to then use the device on battery power alone, until the battery is low on power, when the recharging cycle can then be repeated.

A notebook/netbook has more flexibility than the other devices mentioned because, unlike the other devices, it can also be powered directly from the mains electricity, without the battery installed.

If your laptop/notebook/netbook is mainly used away from the home or office, it is fine to leave the battery permanently installed. If, however, it is mainly used indoors at home or at work and always or almost always on exactly the same desk or table, then it makes little sense to use it either on battery power alone or with the battery permanently installed.

Charge the battery up to full charge and then disconnect the battery from the device and keep it safely for when you next need to use the laptop/notebook/netbook on the move (if the battery is stored for long periods it may require additional recharging to both maintain the battery's condition and to keep it fully charged because low level power dissipation takes place in a disconnected battery). Then connect the device to the mains electricity without the battery and continue using it like that.

If the laptop/notebook/netbook is mainly used in a single permanent indoor location, then charging has to stop when the battery has reached 100% full charge and should only be resumed when the device gives a low battery charge warning.

It is also important not to let rechargeable batteries drain completely by ignoring the low battery charge warming and continuing to use the device until the battery runs out of charge and the device powers down suddenly. Sudden shutdowns like this are neither good for the battery nor the device and can shorten the lifespan of both.

Continuing to charge any rechargeable battery when it has already been fully charged damages and shortens the life of the battery. It can even damage the internal Power Management System of the device if done over a sustained period of time and/or for prolonged periods of time.

When your notebook only shows 75% as the maximum charging level, this is an indication that one or more (probably two) of the individual cells that make up the battery are fully depleted, damaged and probably no longer capable of storing a charge, for the reasons given above. You should stop charging this battery after it has reached 75%, otherwise more cells are likely to become damaged and so on until the entire battery is dead, unresponsive and useless.

Remove the main battery and power supply charger adapter from the laptop, wait a few minute to get rid of any residual charge, now install the battery, power up! if no change remove battery, next plug the power supply back in, power on, if yes! the main battery is bad and needs replacement. If no change reply to this message so I can help you further. If you having low memory issues, the ram needs to be upgraded.

I have 4 months with my Acer Aspire 5251-1513 and I have noticed 1 week ago that my battery will not charge to full capacity. When it reaches 79% it stays there and will not charge from there, what should...

your battery may have become "Imprinted".
Run the system on battery until the battery is completely dead, then fully recharge it as far as it will charge, then exhaust the battery again. If the battery doesn't recover it's full capacity, then contact Acer for a replacement as the battery should have a 1 year warranty

Acer Aspire 5050 I bought a new battery . My laptop works fine on Ac power but when I installed the battery it shuts off immediately

I apologize that I am having a hard time following the thread as to what you have tried and so forth. I will assume the following:
1. You have an old battery that does not hold a charge but the laptop does run with this battery installed, from AC or from AC w/no battery installed.
2. You have installed the new battery (with the laptop off) and it does not run from the battery or when plugged in.
3. You have tried charging the new battery 4-6 hours.
4. You are using the original charger or one that is fully rated for the laptop - I think this needs a 90W.
New question: does the charge light come on?
If the above are all true then there are 2 possible problems:
1. Bad (shorted) battery - this is possible, although unlikely, fro a new battery.
2. Power connection on the motherboard is faulty. The center pin may be loose, thus not giving full power to the system to charge the battery and run the laptop at the same time. This should be "overcome" by charging the battery w/system off. OR, the connector is like a headphone jack in that when you plug in, the primary connection is opened but on this series of laptop I have seen this fail.
Try powering up with the battery in and adapter plugged into the laptop but not to the wall.
Let me know what you discover. Reply w/my name so I know which thread to read.

Acer Aspire Computer Does not Turn on

The light you are seeing usually is a sign that the battery is discharged. Although you say the battery shows that it is fully charged, it is possible that the battery is fully discharged or defective. You should disconnect the battery from the pc and try powering on with the ac adapter. Although no way to per say "force reboot," removing all power sources (ac adapter and battery) should in essence reset the motherboard.
