Question about Samsung HC-P4752W 47" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Samsung HCN473WX I just finished replacing the IC's on my HCN473WX.......IT WORKS!!!!!! I don't have a lot of soldering experience, yet things went well. I have one issue....there are slight vertical lines in the picture (although very minor). I'd say the picture quality is about 90%. I cleaned tv with compressed air, the connections, double checked everything that I did - all looks good. From what I have read, I need to replace the capacitors on the convergence board - but that is only a guess. Is this the issue? If so, what is the part number? Thanks for all of your help up to this point!!!

Re: Samsung HCN473WX

You may need to do convergence to align the colors up.
the only thing other than the ic that need to be replaced are resisters and if the resisters are bad you would not be able to move one of the colors, and blow out the ic you just installed.

The sound on my toshiba theater view wont work i checked both the speakers and they are fine. Is this a simple fix?

If speakers are ok then the sound output ic of your tv is faulty. If you have basic knowledge in electronics then you can replace the ic. You can find the ic by following the wires from the speakers. It will end near the sound out put ic. The ic will be fitted on an aluminum heat sink. Note that number of that ic and get a new one from the nearest electronic spare part shop. For replacing the ic you need some tools like screwdriver de-soldering pump soldering iron, solder etc. All these thing will get from the spare part shop, if you don't have the same.Be sure to open the tv only after half an hour after dismantling the power because electrolytic capacitors inside it will store the power for some time.

Help not sure

This maybe the problem why it is repeating. They didn't change all return resistors. they are different sizes all are probably smaller than 100 ohms. You will need the exact size and there are caps that maybe bad and maybe fuses also

My tv has lots of red and green. Faces are shadowed by a red outline. It occurs on all channels and dvd.

If problem does not fix by flash focus/ convergence adjustment in Menu then replace convergence output ICs on D board of tv that sounds defective and causing problem.
Comvergence output ICs replacement requires soldering work with proper tools and electronics knowledge/ experience, call local tech if you have no experience.

5 year old tv

Mine is Toshiba 55 TZ, have it since 98', shutdown and red light blinking problem, search the net and found out, generally a Convergence IC (stk392-110) problem. bought 2 for $15 at (ebay). replaced following direction from

Open back cover, 9 screws and wirings (pls mark), removed(soldered) a electronic board infront of convergence ic. removed IC (stk392-110) (screwed and soldered).

Replaced everything and voila...! it is now working again..
no more shutsdown and red blinking light. Saves mo $400 for a repariman. of course just be careful with static and stuff.

I don't know how to solder, so I ask friend to do it for me. But I did the rest. Just to give you an idea that it can be done even if you don't know much about electronics. This in no way a recommendation but just stating my experience. Follow at own risk.

Blue Convergence problems

Yes thats what you need. Just go to radio shack get a de soldering Iron (the kind with the rubberbulb works fine) as wel as a fine pointed low wattage Iron. Also pick up a tube of heat sink compound while your there. Then lable your wires on the tv that you remove. Desolder both STK392-040 chips and solder in the new ones. Just ve careful not to bridge any of the pins with solder chck them with a magnifying glass. Dont forget to coat the back side of the new heat sinks with heat sink compound. You will need to adjust the convergence when youre finished. Just go slow it takes about an hour. I would also vheck the resistors right next to the ICs at times on or two of them get burnt when the ICs go out. Heres a link to where you can get the replacement ICs.

Samsung HCN473WX/xaa

The tv shuts on and off by itself and the timer light flashes while doing so. I unpluged it for a couple of days and plugged it back in. The tv worked for about 5 hours and then it started shutting on and off again by itself.

Red Gun screwy!!

You have a typical convergence problem here that happens on just about every tube type projection TV set ever made. There are two STK IC's that will need to be changed. Best thing to do, if you have any soldering experience on printed circuit boards, would be to get the service manual, locate the convergence amp IC's order the correct parts and not any replacement IC's that cost less the 20 bucks, and change the IC's. If you have no solid state repair experience, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck

Red Convergence

Yes the IC's and possibly the fusable resistors went out on the convergence board of your TV set. If you have soldering experience and some pratical electronic's experience I would say go into the set find the Two stand-up STK###_### IC's and replace them. Bur if you have no experience, leave This repair for the pro's. They should replace both IC's at once and should cost somewhere arounf $250.00 to $375.00 to repai.. Good Luck
