SOURCE: error code e40 on my washing machine electrolux

Hi,
The Error E40 warning means the door is not properly closed. The E40 error code indicates a loss of electrical power usually but not always due to the door not shutting properly or not locking. But, since you smelled burning it could be any electrical short that blew a fuse and shut the machine down. It could also be the motor windings with the internal overload protector shutting it down.
Thank you for contacting Fixya.com

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I've attached these filter guidance notes JUST IN CASE this is the problem. It's worth carrying it out regularly anyway ;-0)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

Hi

If the washer won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the pressure/water level switch assembly. Inspect the inlet hose coming to the washer for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the pressure/water level switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

E20 is an error code for a drain pump issue. The error will reset itself if the issue has been resolved. If it or another code continued to appear, then the unit has not been accurately fixed.

Electrolux EWF1074 washer doesn't seem to be taking the water in as normal. We only have it connected for a cold wash. Could this be a solenoid problem

    indicates that it is so
prove it by changing over the hose with the hot water hose and using the hot water solenoid which will activate the hot water solenoid that is now connected to the cold water tap
if that works get a new water control solenoid and replace the cold water solenoid

To be honest ur question is confusing? what is it doing or not doing? there is no water pump per se but a water inlet valve yes, and a drain pump at bottom of machine. Id it not emptying the water? could be a clogged pump or if its not spinning right? a bad motor coupler, bad tranny, bad clutch, or even a bad door switch? need more info to point that out? is it at least washing agitating? or not? is there a spin? or little spin but not much power?

Electrolux Inspire 7 kg washing machine. Error code 22. A program run for 30 minutes Ok and the stop and reset the program. What means e22 and how can be solved? Thanks in andvance!

Hello Serban Alexandru - Typically error code E22 indicates that the water is not pumping out fast enough. Does the drain pump make a humming noise? If so, there may be a restriction in the drain line or siphoning. Otherwise since it is such a complex unit I would recommend contacting a professional to have the pump, timer or main control board diagnose.

I have a electrolux Insight EWN 14991 W which I have for over 2 years. The problem is that it keeps coming up to make sure door is closed properly which it is. It stills refuses to go through a cycle. ...

It sounds like the micro door switch could be intermittently faulty. Switch unit off from power supply and unplug for 10 minutes. Restart. If problem reoccurs then you will need a service call.

disconnect hose from supply valve and check for water there first. if there's water there after cracking the valve open. reconnect the hose and disconnect the supply hose from the machine and perform the same test- crack the valve open and check for water at that end of the hose. if not the
jacket inside the hose has collapsed. replace it. if that doesn't work, chances are either the selonoid valve is not working properly. or the controller itself is not working. good luck.

OK go to link, above scroll down to LAUNDRY, and download one of these "Generic" service manual, inside you have troubleshooting procedures and repair how to's. It is what us engineers use to repair.
I think you may find you will have to replace the door handle assembly, and switch, interlock. This is a common thing.

New Electrolux FL washer - will not fill with water

There are three main possibilities here. Firstly there may be a blockage that is stopping the water from flowing. Secondly there may be an item stuck in the pump chamber. Lastly the pump itself may be seized up. On machines that have their waste pipe connected under the kitchen sink it is always worth checking that the plumbing is not blocked with fat or lint at this junction. Check for kinking of the waste hose, this may of course release itself if you pull the machine forward. As for blockages and obstructions inside the machine itself it would be difficult to give any real guidance as there are so many models. If the pump is seized or defective the solution is nearly always the replacement of the whole pump.
