Question about Samsung Galaxy Cell Phones
While talking, texting or not doing anything at all it shuts down.
Without further details it can have many reasons, including a defect.
You may try removing possible accessories such as an SD memory card and then retry.
I hope this helps.

Probably the phone got wet. If it also shuts down while your closing it, just close it real slowly and that should fix that problem. Any other note the phones may have come defective cause i had one and that happened. The phones is probably just trying to restart to reset itself to be able to handle a virus or just water that entered the wrong way. Still you should just get a new phone. :)

Fail the pattern until it allows you to login with your google account. Otherwise backup and factory reset.
