Econ button

Econ button turns off the A/C but leave the climate control on (without A/C). The climate control will try to get to the set temperature but, obviously on hot days it never will without the A/C on. I use it during the winter and cooler temps, it saves gas not running the A/C, thus econ (economy).

Im working on a1988 Cadilac deville , replaced ac compressor , accumlator , orfus tube . i also vaccumed the system , reset computer . started car filled with 134a . worked fine till i drove for bout 1mi ....

Your have a low refrigerant level. Econ staying on and service ac will stay on too. Sounds like you didnt put enough r134a in the system. How much r134a did you add? Capacity is 38 ounces(thats
with R12), and a bit less than that for r134a.

My 96 Sedan DeVille Climate control system will not toggle between Econ and Auto Modes. It will only operate in the Econ Mode. The Auto Mode lights up when I push the button but immiediately switches...

This usually means the ac refridgerant is low. In Econ mode the ac compressor will not turn on, your car is staying in Econ to avoid damage to the compressor. If you are low on refrigerant it means you have a leak. Don't just buy a can and refil, have a professional shop check for leaks and fill the system with the proper oil and add refrigerant to the proper pressure.

My readout says econ and is not so warm have my kids wrecked it

ECON is a different mode of operation. In this mode it only looks at the temperature of the spa once a day. You need to look at your manual and use the topside control to change from ECON to NORMAL operation.

My econ light remains on, on my 04 Audi A4. Various post report check the fuses initially. Which fuse do i need to check specifically?

This is normally one of 3 problems:

1 - Refriant too low
2 - Pressure sensor faulty
3 - Climate Control Unit faulty

In order of cost -

1 - Re gas approx 49 pounds
2 - New sensor - 50 Pounds
3 - New climate control unit circa 700 pound

I have just had the same issue and after a re gas and new sensor it all works okay.

MY 1998 FORD ECON.VAN HEAT WILL NOT WORK REPLACED WATER PUMP AND TSTAT

My guess is that it's a plugged heater core. With the engine running carefully feel the hoses leading to the heater core, which is in the firewall. If both, or one of those hoses is cold to the touch your heater core is plugged. This involves tearing down a bunch of the stuff in the dash to reach. It's not a huge deal, but it's a lot of work. If you aren't comfortable with that I would take it to a shop.

i have a 96 DeVille that did the same thing. It means your coolant tank is almost empty. It switches automaticlly to preserve based upon temp readings.

The climate control system will not work in Auto mode but only in Econ mode in my 1989 cadillac fleetwood. I press Auto but it goes to Econ.

Your A/C system has lost its refrigerant, and will automatically go into "ECON" at that time. System will have to be leak tested , repaired, and recharged. Hope this helps.
