My Bissell carpet clean will not extract water

I changed the seal between the body and water unit thinking this might be the problem, but no luck. Any suggestions?

Possible the water pump has gone out. I changed mine out it was not too hard. Also make sure the pump lines are all still attached and not clogged. This will take a little dis-assembly.

Hello There,
Did you check the basic things:
-is the vacuum motor running like should be? (healthy sound, no strange noise)

-suction check:turn on the unit and with your fingers cover the hole, if the suction at the square connection hole to the water tank is not sufficient, your water pick up won't work.

-did you clean your water tank

-the dirty water level should be not too high to avoid the small red door to be closed (in front of the screen) in the water tank -the screen supposed to be clean (in the water tank) to let the air go through easily (otherwise the vacuum drops dramatically)

-the seal between the body and the water unit (this is not the bottom one - with the valve - where the water go through), this seal is at one of the top corner with square hole

-when you remove the water tank check the screws on the base plate, paying attention mostly around the vacuum motor (if those screws around the motor got loose your suction drops basically to no suction)

Furthermore you have to remove the base plate (under the water tank) and visually check around how the vacuum motor air track seals to the base plate.
Good Luck with your investigation!

Mine would not squirt water or solution. I cleaned out all the lines (have to disassemble the housing) and cleaned the spray nozzles and that did not work. I found another guy who had the same problem and he said to take out the water heater (the rectangular aluminum piece the tubing goes in and out of), took it apart (easy) and cleaned it out (easy) and that did it.

Will not **** the water off the carpet.

If the carpet cleaner won't "Extract" water from the carpet, try using the upholstery / hand tool. If you have suction there, your selector switch / knob is either in wrong position, or broken. There may also be a tear in the hose on the inside of the cleaner, or the waste tank is not sealing well.

When I am cleaning carpet, the water spray works

I have a Proheat 2X and had the same problem. I don't know if this will work with your unit... but I tried the Water Rinse setting and found water came out and was suctioned properly, but on the Light Clean, Normal Clean, and Heavy Traffic settings, the unit failed to do anything. Problem may be with leaving the soap dispenser in-place, which might scum up the tubing.

SO, an alternative to throwing out my unit and buying something else was to put one capful of the Bissell soap in the water resevoir and keep the unit on Water Rinse. IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY NOW. Don't know if this will help, but at least I didn't have to buy a new unit. Rinse everything after using and there's been no problem.

Since the last use of my new ProHeat X2 carpet

Check the lint filter. It is located in the top clear plastic section (the one with the dial to switch from floor to tool mode). On the underside of this section is a small (about 1 inch square) red plastic piece with a little door on it. Flip open the door and you will probably find it is clogged. Clean it out and you should have full suction again.

Bissell pro heat will not extract water from the carpet

Try checking the top section of the machine (where the dial is located to switch it from floor to tool) and there is a little red plastic piece about 1 inch square on the inside of it. This is a lint filter that has a little door on it. Open the door or remove the entire thing to clean it out. It is probably completely blocked with hair, etc.. which is why you have no suction. Replace it after you clean it out and hopefully your problem will be solved!

Where the lip of the tank sits on the clear window, is the gasket there? If it is missing, it won't suck up the water. It is black, oblong (#24)and sits in a slot on the clear window providing a seal for the tank. Is the filter clean(#62), should be sitting in the square opening on the bottom of the lid, it sits right over the sucking opening.

Won't extract water from carpet.

Seems the 1950W is now obsolete, cna't even bring up a drawing of it. Usually when the vac. motor is running, then there has to be suction. But if a seal or gaske is missing, then the suction will be lost. So you might check the dirty water tank to make sure there isn't a part missing or out of place. Check this out, it is for a 1950-3:
