Visit www.stevessewandvac.com for bags if you don't see them up on the site contact us. On the average you should change your bag once a month regardless of how full this will keep your vacuum from taking on odors of pets or whatever it is you may have sucked up. Also if you happened to have sucked up any food products they tend to start to grow things.

SOURCE: Bosch Vacuum Cleaner: I changed

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

It sounds like you may have a bad thermal switch inside the machine. Most vacuum cleaners have a switch connected to the motor, so if the vacuum cleaner is running hot, it will shut off to prevent any damage to your motor. You did all the right things by checking the bag, making sure the hose was NOT clogged, and replacing HEPA filter.

Most of the time on canister vacuums, the reason is caused by a clog in the hose, or somewhere in the powerhead. If you're sure that there is no clog anywhere, it is going to be the thermal switch on the motor.

Here's a link to the parts schematic for the Bosch upright vacuum. I hope it helps you in determining how to access the thermal switch. A word of warning to you before you try it, this is a very tough vacuum cleaner to work on, you may want to bring it in to a vacuum repair shop, as this is not an easy repair.

Where can I get a repair manual for a bosch powermax 1700w vacuum cleaner?

You won't likely find one anywhere. Bosch pulled the plug on vacuums several years ago. Take it to your local vac repair shop if you need repair. I'm not allowed on here to give you my store info as it's seen as self promotion, but do a search in your area for former Bosch vac dealers and you should be able to find a qualified expert near you.

Reset switch

There is no reset button it as a Thermal Cut Off

This vacuum cleaner has a special thermostat that protects the cleaner in case of motor overheating. If the cleaner suddenly

shuts off, turn the switch off and unplug the cleaner.

Check the cleaner for a possible source of overheating such as a blocked hose or clogged filters. If these conditions are found, fix

them and wait at least 30 minutes before attempting to use the cleaner. After the 30-minute period, plug the cleaner back in and

turn on the switch. If the cleaner still does not run, then call 1-800-282-2886 for customer assistance

Vacuum cleaner shuts off after short use. What's the reason. Motor seems very hot.

Almost all vacuum cleaners have a thermal cut-out, which operates when the machine gets too hot. It resets automatically when it cools down. Overheating is almost always caused by a blockage. Either the filters need cleaning or changing, or there's an obstruction somewhere in the pipe-work. Make sure all the pipes are clear so there's good air flow and you should be back in business. If the problem persists there may be trouble with the motor itself, in which case you'll need professional help (or a new machine). Good luck!
