Question about Hunter Dryers

1 Answer

Why does our remote receiver, model #85482-01, keep resetting itself?

We have a Hunter Grand Lodge ceiling fan, model #23272. I've changed the dip switch settings on the receiver and remote 3 times now and when the the ceiling fan is on high speed it sporadically changes its speed and turns the light on/off at will.

No power outages that have caused issues. It has been an issue pretty much from the beginning. Lots of posts on the internet about the remote kit in the ceiling fan itself, but no one has posted a solution except cracking it open and resodering some particular connections. Not an electrician here. May just have to go by a new ceiling fan from a nother manufacture with a better remote kit.

I am sorry to hear this, but I guess you already know what you'll have to do. You might want to try a local repair shop, if Hunter is not going to help you with this.

That's a tough one; this could be coming from a malfunctioning transmitting or receiving unit, or outside interference.

Did the handheld remote get dropped just before this problem started? Or maybe have something spilled on it? One way of ruling out spurious emissions coming from the transmitter is, once the fan is operating, remove the batteries from the remote. If it still changes modes it would NOT be the remote. Proceed to the next step.

Have you had electrical storms or power outages around the time that the problem started? If so the receiver may have taken an electrical hit. Inspect it carefully for signs of arcing or smoke, fried wires. Also sniff it, if it has a funny (burnt) smell that's where the problem is. Of course the receiver could malfunction without and power surges and that would be harder to isolate.

Lastly, outside interference; This is very hard to determine without any test equipment. If someone living near you installed a garage door opener, Set-up an amateur radio station, or started using some piece of new electronics you might be interfered with you. I have seen electric lawnmowers do some strange things (interference). I was also was once on a call where the guy next door actually went out and bought a programmable remote control to mess with my clients TV, some kind of neighborhood squabble.

Hope this helps, best of luck to you.

My have a hunter ceiling fan with remote control.it comes on with the wall switch ,but the lights and remote control won't work .can someone please explain why?

Try changing the dip codes in the receiver & transmitter. I wouldn't advise putting in the same code for both fans. Also, you might need new receivers.

What is the code for the remote control to work the fan I accidently changed the 5 series code in the remote

You will have to look in your fan to find the dip switch for the receiver, depending on your model, it may be in the canopy at the ceiling, or in the switch housing where the light is, or possibly in the fan housing itself. Look your model# up and reply here and I can help you better.

Thanks

Light turns on by its self

When this happens, providing it isn't a neighbor playing tricks, on you. It is nearly always the Receiver, front end glitching, and it makes the unit think, it is receiving a signal. You need to replace your controller box, if possible. Try a "Reset" remove power to the Controller, leave off for a bit, reconnect power, if that doesn't clear it, then go with the bad controller. Sometimes it can be interference.

have the wiring checked for proper and good connections....other than that, the control module in the fan ( the receiver) is defective.

Hunter fan/light with remote installed turns on by itself

Many times this is caused by stray frequencies in the neighborhood. And, sometimes changing the frequencies on the remote and receiver reduce the occurrence.

But it sounds like this may not be the case, here. If not, the receiver in the fan is the culprit and should be replaced. No danger, just annoying.

Hunter fan model 23272 with remote control

Sometimes fan remotes can get interference from several rf sources (maybe another fan remote or garage door opener, etc). You can try to change the DIP switches in the remote and the reciever to a different frequency. The switches in the remote are probably in the battery compartment, and on the reciever which is located in the ceiling canopy (most likely), or in the round box where the light kit attaches.
