SOURCE: my turtle beach x1 mic doesnt work when i speak

What happens if you try using your X1 with a PC? The X1's green plug goes to the green Line Out (or Front) jack on your PC, while the X1's pink plug goes to the pink Microphone jack on your PC. If the X1 mic works with your PC, then the problem is the chat/controller cable and replacing it should fix the problem. If the mic doesn't work, then the headset will need to be replaced. Turtle Beach should be able to do that for you...

SOURCE: mic broke

Try using your X1 with your computer. Plug the X1 green plug into the green jack on the PC. Plug the X1 pink plug into the pink jack on your PC. Try using the headset to listen to the sound of your voice. Can you hear your voice through the headset? If yes, then the mic is OK but the chat-controller cable needs to be replaced. If not, then you should contact Turtle Beach tech support at support@turtlebeach.com.

SOURCE: people hear themselves through my mic

That's probably because of a bad controller cable. Turtle Beach should be able to replace that for you. You can reach them at support@turtlebeach.com.

SOURCE: Turtle beach x1 mic

I found this on the Turtle Beach website:
http://turtlebeach.com/support/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=607418123
This test is to find out if your "Talkback Cable" has failed or the "X1 Mic". It is for the PC only not for the Mac. If it works with the PC but not with the Xbox, then your Mic is good but you need to replace the Talkback Cable.

First, make sure the X1 mic mute switch on the amplifier is turned on. Switch it back
and forth to clear out anything that might have built up on the contacts. If that's
not the problem, then try the X1 mic with your PC to see if the level is OK.
If the X1 does not work on your PC then replacing the 'Puck' will not fix the problem.

Make sure that you do not leave the 'Puck' connected while connecting to PC.

1) Take the pink plug from the X1 and plug it into the pink jack (Microphone input)
on your PC's soundcard.

2) Take the green plug from the X1 and plug it into the green jack (Front L/R Out or
Line Out) on your PC's soundcard.

3) Take the USB plug from the X1 and insert it into a USB port on the PC (not a USB hub)

4) In the soundcard's control software, enable the Microphone for playback.
In the Microphone > Advanced settings, enable the Microphone Boost.

5) Adjust the volume for the Microphone to about half-way up.

6) Adjust the overall playback volume to about half-way up.

7) Put on the headset. Make sure the Mute switch on the X1 amp box is not set to Mute
(the LED should be green).

Now speak into the microphone. Do you hear your voice in the headphones? If so, the
mic works and your X1 headphones should be OK. If you still cannot get the X1 mic to
work over Xbox Live, then you need to take a closer look at Dashboard settings and
other connections, or check the integrity of your X1-Xbox Controller Cable.

******************************

In order to enable the chat make sure that the Mute button in the Off position.
If it is on the ON position the Mic will not work.

Red = Muted
Green = UN-Muted

******************************

To find out if the Xbox Controller Cable 'Puck' has failed, you may also try the 'stock'
cable that came with the Xbox. If the original Xbox cable is working, you know you have
a cable that has failed.

Since these cables have to be lightweight so that they do not "weigh you down" while
playing, caution should be exercised not to pull them or get them caught under furniture
etc.

Here is a video showing how to test the mic with your PC in Windows XP:

You need a replacement talkback cable. You can purchase one through the Turtle Beach site or by contacting their support about a replacement.

If you have an X1 headset...
Try using the X1 headset and mic with your PC (sound card). Green plug goes to green jack, Pink plug goes to pink jack. Can you hear your voice thru the X1 mic on your PC? If yes, then the mic works but the chat-controller cable is probably broken and should be replaced. If no, then the mic may be broken and you should contact Turtle Beach's tech support for help -- support@turtlebeach.com.

I am having troubles with my Turtle Beachs X1s

You may have kinked your controller cable when you moved all your Xbox stuff. You might as well get a replacement controller cable--Turtle Beach sells them for only $4.95 on their website. I'd recommend the newer white one since that looks to be a lot thicker.

My tutle beach makes a wierd noise to my friends but i dont hear it

If you're using a wired controller, try a wireless controller. Sometimes connecting the USB on the controller and USB on the X1 to the XBOX can cause noise from the controller that can leak into the chat signal.

My Turtle beach X31 keeps cutting my mic out from chat so i can't hear poeple and they cant hear me but i can still hear sounds in the head set

That sounds like the chat/controller cable might be to loose in the headset jack. Turtle Beach has a newer cable available that should fit tighter. Their email is support@turtlebeach.com.

My turtle beach x1 stopped working

What happens if you try your X1 on a PC instead of on your Xbox? That's a good test of the mic... Here's how:
- Plug the X1 USB into a USB port on your PC. - Plug the X1 green plug into the green Line Out jack on your PC. - Plug the X1 pink plug into the pink Microphone jack on your PC.
Try recording the sound of your own voice on the PC, using Sound Recorder or whatever. Do you hear the sound of your voice? If so, your mic is working and the X1 chat/controller cable is probably broken. Replace the chat/controller cable.
If not, then the X1 mic is broken and you should contact Turtle Beach for service at support@turtlebeach.com.
