Cant start my brand new easystart stihl 50 whipper snipper kicks then dies it was already fueled when i bought it

Has it got a fuel bubble like button you need to push a few times to get the fuel flowing? Or is there a throttle lever near the starter that you move up slightly until the engine warms up then you decrease it?

Hello,
My name is Dane and I am going to assist you in solving your problem.

If your fuel is mixed with oil, make sure it is mixed correctly. Too much oil in the mix will cause problems. Make sure you haven't left old fuel in it for a long period of time and gummed those jets up. Sometimes an engine just needs to run with good fuel in order to clean the jets out. If this is the case, just replace the fuel, get it running and work it normal for a tank of fuel if you can. You should see improvement by then.

If it still doesn't run correctly, you will have to adjust or clean the Carburetor. If you need to clean the Carburetor, you will probably need to remove, disassemble, soak, and use compressed air to blow out the jets in your carburetor. Pay close attention to how the carburetor is attached to the engine. Make a drawing if you need to or take some pictures. Remove the Carburetor from the engine. Remove the air filter, linkages, throttle/choke cables and fuel line. Remove the mounting bolts/nuts. You will need to disassemble the carburetor as far as possible and put it in some Carburetor cleaning solution. You can get this at any auto parts store. Do not place rubber parts in the solution. Allow it to soak in cleaner as directed, and then blow out the ports and jets with compressed air immediately after you take it out of the cleaning solution. Be careful not to get any spray back on your skin or in your eyes. Reinstall the Carburetor in the reverse order. Replace any worn or torn gaskets or o-rings as you assemble and reinstall it.

If you need to adjust the high-speed mixture setting on your Carburetor, turning the screw out just 1/2 turn or so should do the trick. It is not so hard to adjust the Carburetor, however you do need a special tool that is very hard to get your hands on. They don't make many engines with plain screw heads on the jet screws anymore. The newer Carburetors are factory set lean so they can pass emission standards. If you have a local dealer, they should adjust the mixture for a couple of bucks. If you can adjust the screw, start the engine, allow it to warm up, and apply full throttle. Start backing off the screw just until the engine gets max RPM. That's it. You're done.

Just a TIP: Always mix your fuel with an approved fuel stabilizer. Fuel begins to go bad after a few months and that's why many people have fuel problems in the spring.

It depends on how old it is, the older its is the more oil is needed. 30 years ago it was 20:1 and now they run 50:1.

With 2 strokes I always start with 'AIR' 'FUEL' 'SPARK' from the sounds of it the choke might be stuck on (choking the motor ha ha) also check the air filter, You have fuel and its moving through but the fuel filter might be slightly clogged. As its starting and going on low your spark unit is ok but you might need a new spark plug.

I have a stihl 2 stroke petrol whipper snipper. It seems to have over heated at the reel end. I have smoke and grease spewing out at that end (metal neck at the reel end) have I fried it?


Sounds like you have a straight shaft trimmer version that have got bad bearing(s) that needs replacing. It probably will take the whole gearbox as a replacement item.

I have a brand new easy start stihl 50 whipper snipper it came already fuelled it kicked over then died and now wont start or kicks and dies any thoughts


Try turning the choke off after it tries to start. This is a first for me. I have never ever heard of any type of yard implement, chain saw, mower, weed trimmer, etc that came brand new with fuel( gas mixture) in it or in the package. The fuel mixture for this trimmer I beleive is 50:1. Is that correct? This means that for one gallon of gas, 2,56 ounces of two cycle oil is added to the gas.

My stihl whipper snipper stops running after about 15 minutes then will not start again until completely cold. It is a 350 reasonably new, always at the mechanics and never runs well. I will never ag


It is those sorry little diaphragm they use in the carb. they get hot or the fuel gets low they loose there suction mine did it I just bought a different carb that has a more advance fuel pumping system in it.

Sthil whipper snipper fs38 won't engage the starting pull mechanism, it turns but won't grab drive coupling


remove the recoil cover and check the dogs that engauge the starter to the flywheel

My fs 45 whipper snipper is starting but running


I have a Stihl FS 45 and have had problems with it running for a short time then cutting out. The problem is like to be either- the filter attached to end end of the fuel pick hose that goes down into the fuel tank is blocked or- there is a crackor split in the corrugated section of the fuel pick up hose between the fuel tank and the carburettor. If such a crack or split exists it will cause air to be sucked in with the fuel upsetting the fuel/air ratio. A new hose not adjustment is the only cure
