SOURCE: How do I clean the inside of the glass on the Epson 3490 Scanner?

Disconnect and remove the lid. Remove the two screws on the back of the base. Then use a screwdriver or flat blade to slightly open the back seam. Beginning at the back, run a blade up inside the upper part of the side seam. You will need to release three catches on each side. Once the sides are loose, raise the back of the top, while pushing forward, and the two snap catches at the front will release. The top then lifts off and you can clean the glass. Reassemble in reverse order.

SOURCE: cleaning underside of glass on 610 scanner

Ok. Found this question on-line as I also wanted to know the answer. Couldnt find an answer so I just decided to have a go myself. It was quite easy really. Lift the lid upwards and gently push it backwards from the hinged end and it will unclip. With the scanner facing away from you, undo the only 2 screws visible at the back. Then gently lift up and push forward towards the front. You can see thru the glass 3 plasic lugs holding the front down. With a little wiggle the cover with the glass attached will come away from the slotted holes where the plastic lugs go. Clean glass an carefully replace lid in the reverse order. Pete

Testimonial: "Thanks. I had a go at it myself several weeks ago in the absence of instructions. The steps you describe are the same I used. They worked. Thanks."

SOURCE: scanner glass clean

Cleaning the glass is rather simple. Take the 2 screws under the cover out. Now gently lift the top part of the scanner (some force may be needed). Then the scanner is in 2 parts and the glass can be cleaned inside and outside with a wet wipe glass cleaning pad. Dry the glass with a towel and inspect the glass with a lamp, that no cleanser remains are left. Now install the scanner in reverse order.

SOURCE: WANT TO DOWNLOAD A USER MANUAL FOR THE EPSON V500

Epson Perfection V500 installed. My computer recognizes it and diagnostic note says all okay. B ut when I turn on the power of the scanner, the grren light comes on in the front for about 15-20 seconds and then the scanner makes a loud grating noise and the green light turns orange and keeps flashing. No scan is attempted. TGhe noise sounds like something that should be moving can get started -- but nothing moves when you look at it. Should I take it back where I bought it?

I am trying to scan slides with Epson Perfection V500 Photo...I placed the slides in properly and press the scan button on the scanner. It scans the row of slides as they appear on the scanner bed. But...

You have to have the plastic slide holder (positioner) placed perfectly. Look at the "A" and "C" tabs on the plastic holder. If they don't position your slides over the center of the glass, you are using the wrong tab! Slides have to be back-lit, which is what the top cover does. It doesn't light up the sides of the scanner glass, only the middle.

How do I clean the underside of the glass on the 2450 epson perfection scanner?

Scanners are not meant to be user serviceable. This means that to clean the inside of the scanner, its better that it be brought to the manufacturer who can do this in a safe and correct manner. Believe me, it is worth doing this than ending up having a non-working scanner.

Underside of document table needs cleaning

Hey! I've just find the solution. The only thing you need is a multi-screwdriver to take out the two screws sitted on the backside, then use a screwdriver with a plain point to separate the dark grey plastic piece from the light grey one (use a few toothpicks to keep every flap open). When you get all the flaps open just pull the light grey piece (the bottom one) and separate the dark one with the lid and the glass. Now you can clean conscientiounly the glass. Be sure to put in its right place the back little plastic piece that covers the power connector before closing your scanner when it's clean. Close it introducing the front side before and pressing over every flap. Work done! enjoy you Epson scanner!

I apologize for my english, maybe I've used any unconvenient word, but I think you'll understand it.

Regards,

Jordi (Terrassa, Spain)
