Kenwood A-85 amp has standby light on but doesn't come on

I have a Kenwood A-85 amp. The red standby light is on but when I press the power button it doesn't come on. I have tried turning it on using the remote but that doesn't work either.

SOURCE: All of a sudden the handheld remote will not

So it's not really a remote problem if the receiver won't even turn on from the panel. Stop spinning your wheels with the remote.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to TURN ON or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Mum pressed some buttons on amp now the amp wont respond to the original remote or the universal remote. buttons wont work, batteries good and lights up. is there a button that blocks ir signal?

Looking at the user guide it appears that the amp has a standby mode.

See not below on turning standby on. Question can you see the standby light flashing.

I would also suggest using function on the amp to remove any possible issues with the remote.

One would expect the system to return to normal operation by pressing the power button again. If not what do you see on the display.

Note:
Press 1 to turn on the receiver. You can also turn on the receiver using 1 on the remote control. When you turn off the receiver, press 1 again. "STANDBY" flashes on the display panel. Do not disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) while "STANDBY" is flashing. This may cause a malfunction.

While setting up the Crest Universal remote control RCP1F for my sharp TV, I've managed to turn the TV off, but now I can't turn it back on. The TV remains on Standby and turning off the power doesn't do...

OKAY TRY THIS..
DO STEPS 1-3 AGAIN AND ONCE IT TURNS OFF KEEP CLICKING THE CURSOR UP A COUPLE TIMES.
THEN START CLICKING THE CURSOR DOWN SLOWLY TELL THE TV TURNS BACK ON AND ONCE IT CLICKS BACK ON HIT THE TV BUTTON ON THE TOP OF THE REMOTE ..
IF THE LIGHT BLINKS TWO OR THREE TIMES MORE THEN LIKELY YOU'VE PROGRAMED IT =)
AND NOW KICK BACK RELAX AND ENJOY A COLD BEER FOR THE BOTH OF US =)

Afterward, press the center of the main control button on the right side of the stereo system. The time is now blinking and you can start set the time by pressing upward & downward button for hour and left & right button for the minute

My PS3 has no menu. No sound or video

try video reset

when ps3 is in standby mode(red light)
press and hold the power button till you hear a second beep.

standby mode press hold power........"beep"......"beep"..release power button

then try rebuilding the database and the file system in recovery consol

to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till you get double beep.
