Question about Pentair Pool & Spa

What kind of bang, like an explosion? if so, then a burner orifice or more than one orifice or the burners, are plugged. What is happening, raw fuel is not reaching hot surface igniter quick enough. The raw fuel then collects from a further orifice, and by the time that it reaches the hot surface igniter, there's a little bit too much fuel, and there is an explosion. Which is not normal. You need to clean the orifices and the main burners.

Rat nests inside the fire box or cloggs in the gas orface's going to the burners. Quite often this could be small spider webs that will look like lint.
If you have something keeping the gas from getting to the ignitor or the pilot instead of getting a smooth ignition the gas will build untill it reaches the ignition source, then boom. This will esaust all the oxigen and it will shut the heater down till it cycles again.
Hope this helps.
