OOPS! I hate to tell you but you most likely put new blades on that were too short. Check your manual and get the proper length blades. If you still have the old ones, check them against the new ones and you will see that they are shorter resulting in the uncut grass in the center.

if the blades wont get up to speed or not cutting grass you have a belt that is slipping. could be the pulley is damaged or just a worn out belt. if it is leaving a strip of uncut grass you have a blade that is wore down on the ends not cutting the full path

I have a Craftsman SL3500 42" riding lwan mower. the two blads make uneven paths ans the left blade makes a cut about 1/4" lower than the right blade. What do I do?

You should be using a up lift blade it will help by sucking up the grass to be cut. You should have an adjust on both sides of the blade deck . As for the strip check to see if you have a wheel behind the mower deck. If you do it might be the cause for mower leaving a strip uncut . Sears has been noted for putting wheels in the path of the blade area and smashing the grass down . That is also why I suggest to use an up draft blade it should **** the grass back up again so you can cut it.

Why is my husqvarna zero turn leaving a strip of uncut grass on the left side of the deck

I have a 2014 HUSQVARNA RZ5424 that I just changed the blades on for the first time now 2017. I got new gator blades because of all the good reviews on them. They are about as good as a screen door on a submarine at 300 feet deep. There the same length as the original blades but leaves two rows of uncut grass about a inch wide regardless of how you try to cut it. Only 240 hours on mower, deck clean ,spindles kept greased . Went back to new Husquvarna blades like the ones made for it. PROBLEM SOLVED. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. REL.

Uncut grass in center & higher grass cut on right.

Hi, this may sound obvious but make sure the new blade is the same type as the old one and make sure it is not fitted upside down. Spin the blades and make sure the tips are level with each other, this will tell you if the deck is straight where the blade spindles mount. Regards Phil.

I have 11 years old Murray (42 inch deck). After deck adjustment still leaves uncut portion of the grass between blades. Should I exchange the blades (I have not done it for many years, but I sharpened...

On a two blade deck, such as yours, there is generally an overlap between the cutting coverage of the blades so that you do not leave a mohawk. This does not work well on turns however, and the sharper the turn, the more grass is left. Overcoming that issue brings you up to a 3 blade deck. If your mower is leaving a strip of uncut grass while cutting in a straight line, somehow you are running blades for a smaller deck, thus there is no overlap. The mandrels are offset, one slightly in front of the other so that the blades do not hit each other. I would measure under the deck and see how long a blade could be and still fit within the deck and not strike the other blade, then ask a parts store to sell you something longer than what you have now.

It leaves the center uncut

i think i would raise the whole thing up on jack stands and take a look at the bottom of the deck. do not start it of course, but the problem should be evident. 42 inch generally means only 2 blades which are cutting on the outside leaving you a mohawk. so something is blocking the grass from being cut in the center. if it is by chance a 3 blade deck , then something is wrong with the center blade, if it is there i would guess a broken key.

I have a Craftsman Lawn tractor. Blade leaves grass uncut.

Hi Tom,
Check your spindle shafts for loose play. If your bearings are worn out and sloppy, the belts pull the spindle to one side and an angle cut results... close cut grass at outer edge and high in center will leave this grass trail you are describing. I'd replace the bearings next year for sure.
I hope this helps... Good luck!

I have a 19hp craftsman 42 deck. It has two blades. It does not cut the grass in the center. It leaves a strip uncut. What adjustment should I do

You may be running too fast on ground speed for the mower deck to cut completely. It may be time for some new blades. The blades may be worn down to where they are shorter than when they were first put on.

A row of uncut grass left between blaces when mowing

THE answer that FINALLY worked for me. Torque the bolt that holds on the blade to the recommended torque specified in your owners manual (for my Exmark this torque is 120 ft-lbs). When I first used the torque wrench, i was quite surprised by the amount of addional force I needed to apply to reach 120 ft-lbs Exmark blades have a round blade hole with a washer and therefore, relies only on friction provided by torquing bolt to the proper torque to prevent slippage so that the blade rotates at the same speed as the spindle. When slippage between the blade and spindle occurs, blade tip speed slows leaving uncut grass.
Note: this solution will NOT work for mowers with a blade and spindle design which uses a positive means (e.g., a star shaped hole on the blade) that assures the blade rotates at the same speed as the spindle with no slippage.
