SOURCE: CD STUCK

Take a paper clip and on the front of the drive there should be a small hole. Put the paper clip in the hole and push it in there and the door should come out and you can take the cd out.

SOURCE: I have a CD stuck in the drive on my Dell

These responses are usually correct, but the M6400 does not have a hole. I have encountered this issue and have found the only way is to reboot the computer and ejecting during POST or shortly after. I think that there is some process that has it locked, probably some Dell bundled software.

SD Card and disc stuck in CD slot of Alienware M14x?

try taking a small piece of wire and bending a small hook into one end slide it in on TOP of the stuck disc and hooking the center hole of the disc, (you don't want to get the wire under the disc because you could damage the disc reading hardware) also once you have the disk hooked you may have to use the tweezers to gently hold the front of the disc up to align with the slot as your pulling it out. you should feel a little resistance but don't try to force the disc out too hard.

How do you eject a cd from an alienware 14

you should be able to see a very small pin hole on the cd rom itself.
Get a paper clip and unfold it, insert the longest end into the hole until it hits something and give it a push.
You can also go to the cd\dvd rom and right click- eject

How to eject CD

If the eject button on the CD player does not respond then straighten a paper clip and insert it into the tiny hole on the CD tray. Gently push the paper clip in and the tray will pop out, you can then pull the tray out to the fully opened position to remove the CD disc.

It's a common problem if the cd\dvd rom is very used. Try using a cd/dvd cleaner set, a wet one is better. Follow the instructions on the set. The main idea is to put one drip of the included liquid at the set (usually isopropyl alchohol) at a specific place (like small brush) on the disk surface and play this disk. This way the "brush" will clean up the laser lens and after that the cd/dvd player will be able to read the disks. BE CAREFULL not to put too much liquid on the "brush".

Your CD-ROM may still be functional. The tray may just be stuck, instead of broken. First let's remove the CD.

Get a large paperclip and bend the end out straight. Look for a tiny hole underneath the CDS tray. Push the end of the paperclip into it, and it should open the CD tray a little. Then pull it out the rest of the way and get your CD out. Then try pushing the eject button on the CD-ROM to get the tray to go back in. It may take several trys. If that does not work push the tray in, slowly. Then try the eject button again. I hope that works.

If it does not you can continue to use the CD of course (lots of CD-ROMs have paperclips hanging out of them. And I've seen the problem go away, occasionally, after continued opening and pushing back the tray.
