Question about Briggs & Stratton Garden
Engine starts, but runs lousy, no rpm above hi-idle conditions. desire help on good engine Spec's (timing-valve, clearances. Thanks to owner: problem could be fuel, valve settings, timing.

I don't know about a free one..but try eBay and put your model and manual there are many in there...but before you try that try adjusting your carb..out of adjustment air/gas mixture acts that way also..locate the adjustment screw and at about half throttle adjust it clockwise until it starts to bogg down the the other way until it Boggs again..keep adjusting back and forth until the engine runs the smoothest then add some throttle and repeat if it needs it...good luck..

do you have spark at the plug - remove it and ground it while you crank the engine . is this an overhead valve engine ? have you checked compression .

SOURCE: Engine rpm is not steady.
sounds like the spring on the carburator butterfly valve is weak ... when at idel it surges the engine but when the blade is enguaged the engine evens out
