SOURCE: heat shuts off way before clothed are dry

Check the following to address this issue. replace the sensor if all below checks out to be OK.

Igniter glows, then shuts off without igniting gas - the problem is probably with defective coils (black, located on top of the gas valve). It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

Igniter may burn out or break. Replace the igniter if found defective.

Note: Igniters are very fragile and break easily. It is recommended to handle the igniter only touching the ceramic part of it (usually white in color).

Replace the sensor (located near the igniter) if found defective.(Flame sensor).

SOURCE: check continuity on a flame sensor

flame sensor is closed when dark, open with the ignitor light. Thermostat is closed when cold, open when reach temperture. Ignitor is a closed circut but high resistant value, put your meter on 10k. Also to the gas valve 110volts be carefull.

Ge dryer model dhdsr46

There should be two tabs on the back wall that look like metal strips. Those are the sensors and they rely on the clothes to touch them every so often to get and idea how moist they are. The sensor is most likely not the case. You should check the wires to it but it is probably the control board

Amana dryer starts then stops

Sensor bars are contaminated with a moisture barrier of some sort. Dryness control is not detecting moisture. Solution: Windex the sensor bars and retry.

My dryer will not heat. does this have anything to do with the moisture sensor. Where is this sensor located ?

No, the moisture sensor only senses the wetness of the clothes and the computer determines how long it will take to dry the clothes. The no heat situation is one of 3 problems. No gas situation, high limit switch has tripped or motor contact switches broken. You will need a professional LG technician to diagnose the problem for you.
Good luck

The dampness sensor on the ge profile gas dryer is off - is it possilbe to reset and turn back on?

The dampness sensor is just the two curved metal strips (about 5 inches long, and about an inch apart) located very close to the lint filter. (stick your head in the drum and look back down to your right) These strips can become coated with a waxy substance from fabric softener sheets which prevents them from detecting the moisture correctly. Just clean them off with a little soap solution.

GE Profile Dryer - sensor problem

When I pull up the exploded view of your model, it does not show an individual moisture sensor, but is does show disconnect plug(s) for it. I can only assume that the sensor bars are an intrical part of one of the front bulkhead components. That all being said, the most common reason for your symptoms is when people use fabric softener sheets in the dryer, the sheets leave a waxy type coating on the silver sensor bars inside the drum, near the air inlet to the lint filter. If you clean those two (usually about 4 inch long x about 1/4 inch wide) metal bars off, they will be able to detect the moisture level of the clothing again, and your dryer will work on auto dry again.

Broken sensor

In a GE dryer the sensor rods are below the front support and air duct assembly it may be that a wire has come loose or broken. The sensor itself may be bad but I would remove the front panel check wires before purchasing the part.
