I THINK IT IS OVER-HEATING

I think my nc6220 is over heating, I had not observed it before, but lately I feel it too hot . Could the the problem be just the fan needing replacement?

Hello

The computer is usually clogged with dust and other debris. See if the following instructions help.

compaq nc6220 disassembly instructions
http://static.tigerdirect.com/pdf/c00622160.pdf Compaq Manual

Goto page 107 and follow the instructions to page 108.
Goto page 118 and follow the instructions to page 121.
Goto page 126 and see below:

Be sure to have a duster can with a extender tube on hand now.

On Page 126 You will remove the fan. This and the next page are the purpose
of doing this work. Follow the fan removal instructions. Check that the fan
turns freely. Take the duster and the fan and carry it outside if it is very
dusty and clogged up. Now blow the dust and accumulated debris from the fan.
Set the fan aside.

On Page 127 You will only examine the heat sink, do NOT remove any screws here!!!
The heatsink is a copper or black colored assembly with heatpipes that curve to
the right into the cooling vanes. Look into the cooling vanes that are located
in the area where the fan was mounted. If there is blockage take you duster and
the extender tube. Insert the tube into the duster and try to hold the can
upright at all times. Now spray the gas into the cooling vanes with the tube
facing the side of the computer. This will be dusty. You may want to do it
outside if careful. Otherwise, wear a dust filter mask.

To re-assemble follow the instructions in reverse order.

If there was a blockage you will see a immediate improvement.
I hope that this helps.

Once you cool the computer down turn it back on and listen for the fan running. If you cannot hear it you will need to replace it. Make sure you are using your laptop on a hard flat surface. Using your lap or a pillow is the most common cause of overheating. Don't keep using the computer if it continues to overheat like this, overheating will eventually ruin your hard drive and cause a mess of problems. If your fan does seen to be running ok, try running out and getting a cooling pad to use your laptop while it's on your lap, some of the new ones have fans in them which will give you an extra boost of help on keeping your computer running cool at all times.

Don't worry your computer fan is not broken and does not need replacing. What you do need to do though is always keep the laptop on a hard surface so as to increase airflow and never block the vents up otherwise the laptop will heat up even more. You can buy a fan board such as this http://www.xpad4laptop.com/?gclid=COK92bOooZsCFdUB4wodjVZ7DQ This will cool your laptop down even more. Hope this helped. Please rate me if it did.

On heat mode, the indoor unit wont start until it gets hot. The outside compressor unit will be running while this is happening. If the unit worked OK before it was relocated, and now its not, I would suggest that it has a gas leak. You may need to get the Tech back to check this..

It has the symtoms of the thermostat being stuck in the closed position. Feel the upper radiator hose and see if it's getting hot (from the coolant passing through it)

Do you know how to carefully feel heater hoses to see if coolant getting to heater core is hot enough? Has thermostat been changed lately, and coolant system flushed?

Using my Compaq nc6220 laptop the computer has been overheating, and locks up. I've tried to elevate it up off of the bed, and I always make sure the vents are not blocked. I think there is something...

Do you "feel" the air-flow going out of the blinds? Espesialy when it's in "overheating mode" the fans must work at higher speed. If you can't "feel" the air-flow, the fans have problem and you should replace them.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee bad blender doors. Can I remove the blender doors completely as opposed to replacing them? If I just rip out the broken ones and leave them out what will happen?

I tried that but not my heating core is not getting hot just warm. i think they computer is turning it off because it still thinks the doors an closed. This is what im trying to figure out. I felt the heating hosing under the hood and they both feel hot going in and out of the heater. I am getting luke warm air which is better than the freezing air though
