When multiplying, "the number of significant digits in an answer should equal the least number of significant digits in any one of the numbers being multiplied, divided etc."

In this case, the first number has 4 significant digits, the second number has 3 significant digits, and the next 6 significant digits. The least number is 4, so the answer should have 4 significant digits.

Good luck,

Paul

The answer is 9444000. This is an exact answer, not rounded up or down, so it has 7 significant figures. Since rounding introduces ambiguity, an exact answer like this is sometimes written with a decimal, 9444000.0, so it is known to have 7 significant figures.

Each number has 4 significant digits. The product has 4 significant figures too.

Ambiguous case. 200 could have just one or 3. Check with your teacher what is meant here. If all figures are significant in 200, then your product will also have 3 sig fig: product=25400=2.54x10^4.

However if there is only one significant digit meant in 200, the result should rounded up to 30 000=3x10^4

That is not something that can be done by calculator. Do all the operations to get a result. Look at the number of significant figures in each number in the chain of operations. Keep the least number of significant figures. The result of a calculation cannot be more precise than the least precise of its components.

If it's liquid, 10ml is generally assumed to be about 10mg... but that's TOTAL volume. If you're measuring medicine, the CONCENTRATION of that medicine may significantly change that number. If the concentration is 100%, the number will be pretty close. If the concentration is 0.01%, though, that number will only be 1/10,000 as much as you might think if you didn't take conctration in mind.
