It really is best to have a professional install it, but if you would like to attempt to try it yourself, you will need certain tools. Take a small phillips-head screwdriver and remove the four screws on the back of the watch. Take off the back. Be careful not to mess up the seal (rubber round gasket). You will see a battery strap with three prongs with screws holding down your lithium battery. Unscrew any two of the three screws, and using a tweezer, pull out the battery. Put in the same number battery (probably 2016) making sure to insert it positive side up. Rescrew the screws. Next to one of the screws that you unscrewed, there will be another piece protruding off the battery strap, which almost hits the circuit board. Take your tweezers and lightly press it down to make contact and hold for 3 seconds. Replace your backing and screws.

The bad thing about most Timex watches is that once you open them it is very hard to resael them again. The thing is that , the screws are metal, and your trying to tighten them into a plastic back. If you try to tighten them too much you mess up the tap. When the back is first put into the watch there is a very small hole. When they screw them in it's like a wood screw it taps itself in to the back. Once that has been done once it is very hard to keep the same tighteness it started with. Your best bet is to get a watch with a metal screw-on back with a metal casing too. That way you can tourque really hard and make sure the back is tight. If you decide to have the battery changed, make sure they silicon the seal. That's about as much protection agaist water you have with that watch.

I had this problem. I simply flipped the metal plate on the back 180 degrees.
I noticed on the inside of the metal plate a pad about the size of the battery, and guessed from the other notes that this must perform some kind of insulating function. Furthermore, the writing on the outside of the metal plate was not oriented "up"... that is if I was holding the watch in front of me like I was reading it, the writing on the back plate was upside down. Both of these clues led me to believe that the plate had been re-installed wrong. Flipping it around fixed (restored) the beep.
