I have a john Deere stx38 yellow deck Kohler motor does this mower have any fuses that has anything to do with getting fire

Hello I'm wade No it doesn't! It is all ran by key switch. If you can remove air filter and spay starting fluid in engine if it starts then you having fuel delivery problem. Fuel shut-off solenoid usually sticks not causing fuel to get into engine and that solenoid is what kills the engine when key gets turned off. If you have any further question I'm here to help. Starter relay location

Hi Anonymous, 1998 and later Sportster models circuit breaker and fuses were located in an electrical bracket behind the starter relay and data link that was mounted behind the left side panel. 1997 and earlier circuit breakers only no fuses were located under the seat. Good luck.

I have a John Deere l130 and the mower blades engage when I start the engine even when the PTO switch is off. Any suggestions?

sounds like you have feed going directly from switch as soon as you turn ingition to start mode ?

check wiring back from electric clutch to main switch

possible 2 wires have been placed on main switch instead of pto switch ?

or you have a crossed circuit somewhere (that is feed from another live circuit) not directly connected and its ended up at electric clutch as soon as you liven main circuit

a wiring diagram may help

check with www.johndeere.com
or www.jdparts and enter their site load your model and type
and go to electrical system and print out a copy of wiring diagarm

you may need to supply and user name and apply for password from john deere via their site apply on line

its a good site for info and parts diagrams

cheers hope it helps

Stx38 won't start

Actually, this is a problem with many lawn tractors. John Deere makes a "Starter Assist Kit" that sells for about $25. After time, the electrical connections get a bit corroded and when you turn the key the solenoid doesn't get the full current it needs to be activated. I have made my own relay to overcome this problem on my STX38, have shared with many folks with positive results as well. Cost is about $5 total. If you still have this problem and would like a schematic of the "fix", go to:
Mytractorforum.com, go the the Lawn and Garden section, click on John Deere. When the page opens, search STX38 and look for the thread started by "Brad". Info is in there.

Good Luck.
