Question about Intex Automatic Salt Water System for Above Ground Saltwater Pool

1 Answer

Keeps saying low salt level

We have added 5 -- 20 kg bags of salt to our 18 foot diameter, 48 inch depth metal frame intex pool.... and the salt system keeps giving the code for low salt levels. We do not want to end up adding too much as we have bad, iron well water....and it is a pain to top up the pool water....so don't want to have to drain any.
Is the large amount of rain we have had lately likely diluting the salt content, or is the system malfunctioning ?

Is there a recommendation for how much more salt to try adding if this is a solution ? We have lost the manual.

Thanks for the help.

I would say the rain is diluting the system at this point, or the system sensor has gone out. But if you had heavy rains I would be looking at that idea first.

I have a 22 x 52 intex pool and need to know how much salt to add for the first time

the equipment should specify the parts per million of salt required, just google your make and model for information, then take the volume of water(22 x 52 x average depth) and multiply by the required salt concentration. then divide by the bag weight to get the number of bags required. Get some spare bags, but start with a few less than calculated, this enables fine tuning as you test the water a few times

I just need to know how to set the salt water system. i have an 18ft pool and have put 3 bags of salt in so far.

You don't say how deep it is. Since you say 18 foot pool, I presume it is round. AT 2 foot depth = 3817; 3 foot depth = 5726 gallons; 4 foot depth 7634; 5 foot depth is 9543. Your salt bag should tell you how much to put in referencing the gallons.

I hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.com

I have a 13X42 inch Metal Frame Pool and we have added over 55 lbs of salt to our pool and its still green and saying low salt.... what should we do and how much salt does out pool actually need??

You need to get water tested then add the right amount of shock + others and check in a few days to see where the water is at. The salt system only keeps pool right when in balance.

Hello,
the amount of salt that they reccomend in the book is just a starting point
You need to get a salt test kit that reads in #'s not colors
Get your pool to as close to 3000ppm as possible
lower than 2800ppm and you will not produce enough chlorine
any higher than 3500ppm and you can trigger high salt alarm, have bad tasting water, or even get cloudy water
Like you have done, when adding salt , filter only for 6 hours or so to fully disolve

How much salt do you add to a 18 x 48 pool

what is the average depth... your going to take your widthxlengthxaverage depth and then multiply by 7.48... thats how many gallons your pool makes up.... most salt chlorinators call for 2700 to 3700 ppm ... get yourself a salt test kit, and make sure you use salt made for swimming pools....

Hayward pump hose and intex pool

Im thinking that hot glue would not harden completly in a direct sun situation not to mention the potential mess
What I did was go to my local hardware store and bought rubber o rings ( sorry dont remember what size) put them on the fitting slipped the hose over it and clamped on top of that area. Has been fine all summer

hope you figure it out
