I have a Swift model 802, 7X35 binocular. The left lens has an internal part (large round threaded) that is tumbling around inside. I don't know its function or nomenclature. It looks like if I could get inside I might be able to screw it back in.

Can you change a 3200 swift mono head with a binocular head and where can i find one

Yes, or providing they still make it. The monoc head is just held on with a thumb screw, and you can usually buy just the binocular head itself. You will most likely have to get the part through one of Swift Optical Instruments many distributors or dealers, but if you call Swift directly they will be able to direct you in the right direction: (877) 967-9438

Is my bushnell insta vision 7x35 or 10x50- how do I tell ?

The first number is the magnification the second number is the size in millimeters of the objective (large lens) So if you measure the diameter of the front large lens that will give you the size. So a 10x50 means a magnifyng power of 10 and an objective of 50mm.
Now to find out the magnification if you don't know what it is. Measure the front lens. Then if you look through the eyepiece lens while holding it away from you you will see that there is in each a small circle of light. That it what is known as the exit pupil. It lines up with the pupil of your eyes when you have the binoculars pressed up against your eyes. Now measure the diameter of the exit pupil in millimeters. It will only be a small number.

To work out the magnification use this formula. Magnification = Objective size divided by the exit pupil.
So a 10x50 will look like this M = 50 divided by 5....therefore M =10 which is the magnification.

Both the 7x35 and 10x50 will have an exit pupil of 5mm. So if yours is one of these then all you need is the objective (large) lens size.

Missing eyecup

Do you mean the Swift Audubon 8.5x44? If so, for the new model 820 contact Swift Sports Optics. If it's the older model 804 ask around in the forums such as Cloudy Nights. The new model 820 is rubber coated. The old models have a grey crinkle finish.

I would like to know how to dis-assemble an old Swift Vega Binoculars. It is a Nighthawk 7X50, model #788. The inside of the lens need to be cleaned and maybe the mirrors, but I am not sure how to take it...

the old swift nighthawk is a nice bino, has lasted all these years and is well worth repair ...the problem is if you do it yourself you will only make it worse as there will be more more dust inside than when you started unless you have an air hose to blow off optics after polishing, also once you disturb the optics you will certainly put it out of alignment. have repaired many of these thru the years, actually worked for swift in boston years ago. why mess it up ...larry 5088331232

Try Adorama camera in New York. They are good to deal with. Binoculars.com also used to carry parts but I have found since they sold to a conglomerate their customer service is wanting and i switched to Adorama. They also post international.

Eyecups are sticking on my Swift ultra light binoculars

The rubber outer ring of the eyecups can be peeled off of the metal ring underneath. This exposes the three tiny screws and their channels that allow the eyecups to move in and out. Clean any debris out of the channels, tighten or replace the screws if necessary, and fit the rubber covers back onto the rings.
