Stewart has a lovely chocolate and beet cake recipe. Don't worry, you don't
taste the beetroot, it just gives a really moist texture to the cake.
Try it and
you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.

You have two
choices when you are cooking several different types of foods in a steamer at
the same time.
1. If you are cooking different
vegetables, you can cut the harder ones ie potatoes and beetroot into smaller
pieces than the softer vegetables.
2. You can open the steamer during the
cooking process and add in the foods that need less time to cook.
A lot of it is about experimenting until you get the results you want.

Typically, vegetables have a low glycemic index. Most vegetables like
onions, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, eggplants, lettuce, and more have low GI.
Only vegetables with medium and high GI are beetroot (medium GI) and parsnips,
pumpkins and potatoes (high GI).
