Question about Canon SELPHY CP720 Printer
I have used the cleaning stick again and again but it's made no difference. Is there anything else I can try?

Your printer sounds as if it has a hatred for one type of paper size!!! Seriously, it could be a positional blockage, ie debris in a place that allows large paper no worries, but as soon as it repositions itself to do 4x6 it catches a block. open unit if you can and thoroughly check for debris, ie papeer bits. Hope this helps. Also give your printer some tlc, clean heads, both manually with solution and cotton buds, and run print tests, clear print jobs memory, and try unconnecting and reconnecting cables, and powere supply.

First, download the software at http://www.box.net/shared/4yblbn34kg
Secondly, to run the software your printer has to be in service mode. Do that by
- unplug cable
- press and hold "power" button
- plug cable
- press "resume" and release
- release the "power" button
At this stage, your computer will detect a new hardware
Run the software.
or you can use a hot water to clean surface of your catridge

I've had the same problem with my ip4000, but the solution was to get a new print head. They can be quite costly, so I recommend the following:
1. Contact Cannon support and see if you can get them to send you a replacement. They sent me one free of charge, and didn't need an RMA for the old one, so it was hassle free.
2. You can always try to aggressively clean the head yourself by removing it and following some of the "home brew" procedures others have tried. However, you can damage the head further this way and it's only a last resort. Warm distilled water and a syringe was used by one person. When I tried this, it did not work at all, and I called Canon for the replacement anyway.

Take the cartridges out, then take the print-head out and run it under warm water for a few minutes. You could stand it in a saucer of warm water if you like - just the nozzles . Dry it thoroughly - use kitchen town and then refit it into the printer. Put the inks back in and then do some test prints.
It might take 2 or 3 goes but it should clear the blocked nozzle(s)
Inkjets like to be used - it keeps the nozzles clear.
