What does -AC on honeywell chronotherm III thermostat mean?

AC means "air conditioning." If the AC icon is showing on your thermostat it means that your air conditioning is activated and should come on when the temperature threshold you've set on the thermostat is reached.

For example, if you've set the temperature level to 78 degrees, when the house temperature goes above 78, usually by about two degrees, the air conditioner should cycle on to cool it back down to 78 degrees at which point it will then turn off.

This information should be in your air conditioning/heating system or thermostat owners manual. If you don't have the manual, you should contact your air conditioning dealer or your builder to secure a replacement. The manual is essential for proper operation and maintenance of your system.

I HAVE A HONEYWELL T8600D 2028, CHRONOTHERM IV PLUS DELUXE PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT, AND THE TIME/DATE SETTINGS DO NOT HOLD; EVERY MORING, IT FLASHES MONDAY, 1pm. ANY SUGGESTIONS? I RESET TIME/DAY,...

pknab, I have the same problem. And it comes down a few things: 1) the flashing 1:00 indicates that you've lost power, and the system needs to be reset. 2) Reset means taking out the batteries for longer than 5 minutes. 3) You have to change your filter monthly. There's one in the cold air return and another one in the furnace. If you don't, your FURNACE may be causing number one (my conjecture). 4) We had an electrical storm 2 days ago--nothing else in the house lost its sense of time...but...well...the online operating manual is difficult to find try http://customer.honeywell.com/techlit/pdf/69-0000s/69-1400.pdf or http://dl.owneriq.net/e/e67c2c91-73c2-4bd8-abc8-91d843a27658.pdf (but it doesn't tell us this stuff...I'm still looking for the meaning of the EEE in the display..perhaps I have repowered the thermostat/furnace in the wrong order).

The digital display on my honey well chronotherm IV plus goes dead for anywhere from 10 minutes to a couple days and during that time the furnace does not function, then it will pop back up and everything...

The brass terminals, between the front and the subase tend to corrode. Turn power to furnace off, loosen two screws at base of front cover, pop bottom from wall, clean brass spring contacts and matching pins, with fine sand paper or emery board.

Honeywell Chronotherm iv fan keeps running even when heat and cool turned off. How do I turn it off?

Assuming you have the fan switch of your thermostat in AUTO, it sounds like a stuck Fan Relay. If the fan relay is stuck, your fan will continue to run as long as there is line voltage being fed to your unit. This relay could be an independent component or it could be an integral part of your control board. Have an experienced, qualified service technician check it out.

Dellllllllllluxe programmable thermostat chronotherm plus iv

Does your thermostat have batteries. What is the brand of furnace and model # . Does the furnace have a pilot light or is it electronic ignition. if you need heat you can take thermostat of wall and take wires that are labeled r and w and wire nut them together to see if furnace comes on. Make sure you turn breaker off to furnace first before you take thermostat off the wall. If furnace comes on after you turn power back on after you connect those two wires together then you will probally need new thermostat. If not you have a problem with your furnace. If you have any questions after you try this feel free to ask any more questions.

I have a Honeywell Chronotherm IV Plus a/c unit and I can't get my air condt. to turn on. The room temp. says it's 17 degrees in the house so it won't turn on. I need to know how to reset the room tempt....

Not only are the Chronotherm IV's less than user friendly, they have a terrible failure rate. It sounds like one of the typical failures of the chronotherm IV. I suggest starting with a new thermostat.
